Saudi Arabia will build the world's first theme park featuring the world's most popular comic book, film and video game universe, Dragon Ball, as part of a project by Qiddiya Investment Company.
According to a Qiddiya press release, the theme park will be built near the capital Riyadh, with rides and attractions divided into seven zones, along with restaurants and hotels.
The manga "Dragon Ball" became known to the public after it was first published in the Japanese manga magazine Weekly Shonen Jump in 1984.
The popular manga series has since been adapted into films, video games, and television shows in more than 80 countries. Its author, famed Japanese manga artist Akira Toriyama, has passed away at the age of 68.
Saudi Arabia is trying to diversify its oil-dependent economy with a series of major projects involving the entertainment sector.
