After the rain

Late afternoon, the rain had just stopped, the road surface was still wet. In the middle of the main street, an old scrap car was heavy with cardboard boxes and wet scrap metal, pushed by two small figures. A middle-aged woman bent over, hunched over pushing the car, next to her was a little girl of about 7-8 years old, her hands still holding onto the side of the car, her bare feet wading through the water, her thin raincoat clinging to her body.

Without a word of complaint, they quietly moved forward. Each step was an effort to continue their day of making a living. In the middle of the street that was gradually drying up after the heavy rain, the image of a mother and child struggling evoked sadness but also contained a quiet vitality. Looking at this image, I suddenly felt emotional, because life has never been easy for anyone, especially when everyone is trying to make a living and overcome their own difficulties.

Not everyone has easy choices in life. Like this mother and daughter, amidst the ups and downs of rain and sunshine, they still keep going, because they know that ahead could be a warm meal, a less tiring tomorrow, or simply another stretch of life that will be overcome by their own labor.
