Overcoming storms, still ensuring progress of spreading coniferous grass at Pleiku stadium
On July 23, after completely removing the old ginger grass layer to check and readjust the foundation as well as the 50-year-old drainage system, the home field of HAGL Club, Pleiku Arena, began to lay layers of coniferous grass.
The construction encountered many difficulties due to unfavorable weather, continuous heavy rain and strong winds due to the impact of storm No. 3, but the efforts of the workers helped the new grass layer to be returned on schedule.
Technical staff confirmed that after storm No. 3 passes, if Pleiku Arena has continuous sunshine for a week, the grass will be completely green before being lightly flattened to create a standard surface according to VPF and V-League Organizing Committee standards.

With this progress, Pleiku Arena is confident that it will be able to complete the upgrade of the grass surface from ginger grass to coniferous grass in time, thereby unveiling a brand new look for the opening match of V-League 2025 - 2026 with the match between HAGL and Ho Chi Minh City Police Club on August 15.
HAGL upgrades home field advantage
For many years, Pleiku Arena has always been a dangerous place for all away teams, becoming a very special advantage for HAGL to accumulate points in the V-League. HAGL fans are very gentle, do not need to put pressure on the away team but the altitude of nearly 1,000 m above sea level is enough to make the opposing players exhausted.
But from next season, the "tiger" HAGL will have "more wings" when the ginger grass that makes opponents heavy but slow to roll the ball will be eliminated. Instead, HAGL will make opponents lose strength with a new type of grass that helps the ball roll faster, making the match more attractive.

In fact, the mountain town football team had thought about using coniferous grass for Pleiku Arena following the new trend of modern football a few years ago, but was stuck with funding issues until it was realized before the 2025-2026 season.
HAGL is famous for its fast, technical, and minimal-touch play with a combination of pressing and passing that leaves opponents unable to react. With the new turf, those passing moves will be deployed at a higher speed, forcing opponents to work harder and get more tired in the thin air at the highest altitude in V-League.
This season, HAGL opened a new cycle with a framework of 4 Brazilian foreign players leading young players born after 2000 who just held the Korean Student team to a 1-1 draw. They are inexperienced but very fast and strong, excited to play their forte of fast-paced, low-touch football on the coniferous grass of Pleiku Arena.
