Rangnick criticizes Manchester United board.

Rangnick said he had actively pushed to sign striker Luis Diaz from Porto in January 2022, but the Manchester United board then rejected it. Rangnick shared: “I proposed to buy Luis Diaz in January 2022, but the club said no.”

Rangnick was appointed as interim manager of MU in December 2021 after the club sacked Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The German coach led the Old Trafford team for nearly 5 months but could not help the "Red Devils" escape the crisis.

Before leaving, Rangnick remained concerned about the future of the team and gave a list of transfer targets to the Manchester United board in the summer of 2022, including Erling Haaland, David Raya, Jurrien Timber, Moisés Caicedo, and Alexander Isak.

He revealed: "They (Manchester United's board) then did not care about any of the names on the list I gave. The club chose to follow Erik ten Hag's direction instead of listening to me. That was also one of the main reasons why I left."

Among Rangnick's transfer targets, Haaland, Raya, Timber and Isak are all being considered successful signings by Man City, Arsenal and Newcastle. Caicedo has also been impressive since leaving Brighton for Chelsea.
