Mr. Tran Thai Hoa, Head of Road Management Office III.4, said that as of this morning, only one lane of An Khe Pass was open to traffic. The section where the congestion occurred is a steep pass, under construction, the road is muddy, outside of residential areas, and there is no lighting.

The line of cars was about 10 km long. Authorities were directing traffic and lifting the overturned car to clear the scene.

Two days ago, this road was also blocked for many hours due to heavy rain, the muddy road surface caused it to sink when heavy trucks passed by.

The 8km An Khe Pass is considered the most dangerous road on Highway 19 as accidents often occur, especially at night. The pass is being widened from 7 to 9m with a total investment of 600 billion VND. In addition, the bridge, drainage and lighting systems are also being repaired; curves are being widened, increasing visibility for drivers when driving through the area.

National Highway 19 is 243 km long, starting from Quy Nhon port, Binh Dinh to Le Thanh border gate, Gia Lai. This is the main route connecting the Central Highlands provinces with the Central coastal region, with a large volume of traffic, but the road surface is narrow and degraded.
