Quang Ngai finishes program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses

On the morning of June 20, the Steering Committee for the implementation of the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses in Quang Ngai province held a conference to summarize the program of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses in the province in 2025.

As of June 20, the entire Quang Ngai province has implemented and completed 6,331/6,331 houses (not including 79 houses in Tra Bong district, located in areas at high risk of landslides - these houses have been invested in by the province to build resettlement areas and will be completed before August 31 according to the direction of the Prime Minister), reaching a rate of 100%. Ly Son district alone has no temporary or dilapidated houses according to the criteria and guidelines of the Ministry of Construction .

The total cost of implementing the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses is 319.14 billion VND, of which the budget accounts for 261.58 billion VND and the support from organizations, individuals and businesses is 57.56 billion VND.

In addition, during the implementation process, sectors, associations, unions and localities have mobilized many resources such as: Youth Union chapters at all levels in the province have launched more than 115 volunteer youth teams; mobilized from socialized sources and organizations and individuals to support the construction and repair of 21 houses with a total cost of more than 888 million VND; supported 5,164 houses with 47,610 working days, along with the transportation of materials and cleaning of the construction site.

Speaking at the conference, Secretary of the Quang Ngai Provincial Party Committee Bui Thi Quynh Van praised the sense of responsibility and the tireless efforts of all levels, sectors, socio -political organizations, armed forces, enterprises, organizations and individuals inside and outside the province, along with the consensus and positivity of the people in the process of implementing the program.

The Secretary of the Quang Ngai Provincial Party Committee emphasized that from the success of 2025, in the coming time, all levels, sectors and localities should not stop at eliminating temporary houses but need to continue to monitor and support households that have built houses but are in particularly difficult groups to improve their livelihoods and ensure a stable and long-term life.

The Secretary of the Quang Ngai Provincial Party Committee proposed to periodically review and evaluate the quality of houses after handover, especially in areas prone to natural disasters, to have timely repair plans to ensure people's safety. At the same time, he recommended that the Central Government continue to include sustainable housing support for poor and near-poor households in the National Target Programs for the 2026-2035 period, integrated with poverty reduction programs, new rural construction, and climate change adaptation.

On this occasion, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province awarded certificates of merit to 32 collectives with achievements in implementing the emulation movement "joining hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in Quang Ngai province by 2025", and at the same time awarded certificates of merit from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee to 14 collectives that have contributed and provided financial support in the same movement.
