On June 13, due to the serious impact of storm No. 1, causing prolonged heavy rain in Da Nang city, especially in the An Trach dam area (Hoa Tien commune, Hoa Vang district), the water level in the rivers rose, strong currents dragged a large number of cages and rafts drifting and stuck at the dam.
This situation poses a threat to the safety of irrigation works and residential areas. The Da Nang City Military Command has urgently deployed forces to promptly approach and handle the affected areas.
Immediately after receiving the news, Colonel Tran Quang Chanh, Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of the Da Nang City Military Command, mobilized forces and directly went to the scene to direct the forces to quickly deploy to overcome the situation.
According to records, due to the strong current, about 40 aquaculture cages of people from Dai Loc area ( Quang Nam ) were drifted and stuck in the An Trach dam area. These cages blocked about half of the dam surface, covering 6 water discharge compartments, seriously obstructing the flow and increasing the risk of threatening the dam structure.
The water level at the dam has reached 5 meters, exceeding the safety level by 3 meters, posing a potential risk of dam failure and causing serious flooding downstream. In the face of the emergency, the City Military Command quickly directed nearly 180 officers and soldiers of the regular army and militia to deploy measures to overcome the incident and prevent risks.
The forces dismantled, salvaged and relocated the stuck cages, cleared the flow, reduced pressure on the dam, and ensured the safety of lives and property of people in the area. The response work was carried out in accordance with procedures, ensuring absolute safety for officers, soldiers and people.
The city's armed forces continue to maintain combat readiness, closely monitor weather and water levels in key areas, and are ready to deploy local support forces to respond to any unexpected situations.
