This is the first missile launch by North Korea in more than two months. The Japanese Coast Guard also said an object believed to be a ballistic missile fired from North Korea has fallen.

Japan's Kyodo news agency quoted a Japanese government source as saying that there have been no reports of damage caused by the suspected missile.
North Korea last fired a missile on July 1, when it said it had successfully tested a new tactical ballistic missile capable of carrying a 4.5-ton super-large warhead.
Tensions on the Korean Peninsula are also being marked by North Korea launching balloons carrying trash across the border with South Korea, while South Korean activists regularly drop anti-North Korea leaflets in the opposite direction.
