Reduce joint pain

Many people think that people with bone and joint diseases should not walk. However, a study published in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine said that people with joint pain who persistently walk for 10 minutes a day will prevent disability in the next 4 years.

Improve digestion

Another benefit of walking is improving the digestive system, specifically stimulating movements in the intestines. Thanks to that, food is digested better, increasing the absorption of nutrients in the body. In addition, walking or light exercise also prevents constipation, especially for office workers or those who sit a lot.

Overcome insomnia

Physical activities in general and walking in particular help regulate sleep. In particular, if you walk in the evening, after 7pm, it will help overcome the problem of difficulty sleeping, lack of sleep, insomnia. However, note that you should not walk close to bedtime to avoid increasing body temperature, leading to difficulty sleeping.

Reduce stress and anxiety

Epidemiological studies show that people who exercise regularly are less stressed and anxious than those who are sedentary or lazy.

On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025), National Day September 2 (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025) and People's Public Security Traditional Day (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025), Nhan Dan Newspaper coordinated with the Ministry of Public Security to launch the national walking program "Moving Forward with Vietnam".

From July 25 to August 16, 2025, people across the country can register online and walk every day, contributing to the journey of "1 billion steps towards a new era" - a practical activity that shows patriotism, reduces carbon emissions and moves towards the country's Net Zero goal.

In particular, from 6:00 to 7:30 a.m. on August 16, 2025, in 34 provinces and cities with 3,321 communes, wards, and administrative zones, people will simultaneously wear red shirts with yellow stars, sing the national anthem, and march together for a united, strong, and sustainable Vietnam.

This is the first time a walking event has been held on a national scale on the same day, at the same time.
