Promoting the role of women in social issues

The Provincial Women's Union has just summarized and mid-term evaluated the Project on propaganda, education, mobilization, and support for women to participate in solving some social issues related to women in the period of 2017-2027 (Project 938). This is an opportunity to review the results, share experiences and solutions to promote the role of the organization in protecting and supporting women and children in the face of social issues.

CHAIRMAN OF THE PROVINCIAL WOMEN'S UNION NGUYEN THI HONG THAI: Promoting the effectiveness of Project 938

Implementing the Prime Minister's Project 938 on propaganda,education , mobilization and support for women to participate in solving a number of social issues related to women in the period of 2017-2027, the Provincial Women's Union has organized many diverse activities, attracting the participation of many women from all walks of life. Thereby contributing to enhancing the role of the organization in promoting gender equality, protecting women and children and supporting the building of prosperous, progressive and happy families. Up to now, 6/6 targets of the project have been achieved and exceeded the plan.

The work of propaganda and capacity building for the team of cadres implementing the project was focused on with 100% of cadres being trained. The Association organized 35 seminars, forums, training courses and 193 communication sessions in the community, focusing on legal advice, skills to prevent abuse, domestic violence, and raising awareness of gender equality. Thereby, nearly 300,000 households and 6,500 students had access to information on family life education. In addition, the work of supporting and caring for women and children was effectively implemented with the sponsorship of 575 orphans, the construction and repair of more than 200 houses of Love for poor women.

The Association also builds and maintains many practical models such as the Traffic Safety Action Education Club, the Legal Aid Club, 299 trusted addresses in the community and 245 social security addresses. These models not only promote women's proactive role in protecting themselves and their families, but also arouse the sense of responsibility of the community in protecting women and children.

In the coming time, the Provincial Women's Union will continue to promote solidarity, focus on directing all levels of the union to complete the goals of Project 938 for the period 2025-2030, associated with local political tasks, suitable for reality, meeting the aspirations of members; creating a vibrant competitive atmosphere in the new development context of the province and the country.

LIEUTENANT COLONEL LE THI AI NGOC, HEAD OF THE PROVINCIAL POLICE WOMEN'S COMMITTEE: Joining hands for a peaceful life

With the motto "Phu Yen Police Women turn to the grassroots; for a peaceful life; help poor women and children", over the past 5 years, the Provincial Police Women's Association has implemented many activities of mass mobilization, charity, social security and legal propaganda, bringing practical results to women and children in the province.

From 2020 to present, 101 communication sessions on gender equality, domestic violence prevention, cyber safety, and human trafficking prevention have been organized for more than 800,000 women; 125,000 leaflets have been distributed to disseminate the law; 55 sessions have been coordinated with functional units of the Provincial Police to disseminate information on security, order, and social safety. In addition, the association has organized 45 programs "Spring of Love", "Warm Winter"; built and handed over 16 houses of Love with a total cost of more than 1 billion VND; and presented 12,668 gifts worth nearly 1.8 billion VND to women and children in difficult circumstances.

The Provincial Police Women's Union also proactively coordinated with local Women's Unions to detect and support victims of domestic violence and victims of human trafficking to access social services; effectively integrated legal propaganda with social security work; deployed 26 practical models, helping thousands of women and children improve their lives.

In the coming time, the association will continue to innovate content, promote creativity at the grassroots level, strengthen connections and mobilize resources, contribute to raising legal awareness and providing practical care for poor women.

CHAIRMAN OF SONG HINH DISTRICT WOMEN'S UNION TRUONG THI THU HA: Efforts to prevent early marriage and incestuous marriage

As a mountainous district with more than 60% of its women members being ethnic minorities, Song Hinh has a diverse and rich cultural life. However, it also has backward customs, especially child marriage and incestuous marriage - major barriers to population quality, children's rights and sustainable development.

Identifying this as a key task requiring drastic and persistent action, in recent times, the Women's Union of Song Hinh district has seriously implemented Project 938 and the Project to reduce child marriage and incestuous marriage in the period of 2015-2025; closely following the direction of the Provincial Women's Union and the District Party Committee to develop a communication plan, mobilizing members and people to "say no to child marriage and incestuous marriage".

The Association has organized more than 100 communication sessions on life skills, reproductive health, and sex education with more than 11,700 participants; nearly 10,300 members were disseminated the Law on Marriage and Family, the Law on Gender Equality; organized 73 in-depth communication sessions on marriage age, consequences of incestuous marriage, attracting nearly 12,000 people. At the same time, it maintains 19 Say No to Early Marriage Clubs, 39 Happy Family Clubs, 17 community communication teams, 30 trusted addresses and 7 Leaders of Change Clubs.

In the coming time, the association will continue to promote communication in villages and hamlets; promote the role of prestigious people; expand the model of communication clubs and teams; and strengthen coordination between departments and branches to prevent child marriage from the root.

CHAIRMAN OF THE WOMEN'S UNION OF AN NINH DONG COMMUNE (Tuy An District) LE THI HONG NHAN: Spreading love from the Godmother program

In An Ninh Dong commune, the Godmother program has been effectively implemented by the Women's Union of the commune, becoming a humane solution to support women and children in difficult circumstances. With the goal of mobilizing social resources and compassion in the community, the association has called on many individuals, organizations and businesses to participate in caring for and sponsoring specific cases.

Since its implementation, the Commune Women's Union has connected, cared for, and supported 6 children with a total amount of more than 19.2 million VND through giving bicycles, school supplies, necessities, etc. Even though there were cases of children stopping school midway, the association still made efforts to accompany and support them so that they could soon stabilize their lives.

The Association continues to expand the model of Wings of Dreams - Helping Children Go to School, targeting poor students, those in special circumstances, and those at risk of dropping out of school.

From 2023 to 2025, the association mobilized nearly 100 million VND, presented 213 gifts (including notebooks, bicycles, school supplies, etc.) to encourage the spirit, helping children confidently go to school... The programs have contributed to improving the material and spiritual life of those receiving support, reducing the economic burden on many families. For children, this is an opportunity to continue studying and nurture their dreams. At the same time, the program also contributes to enhancing the role and prestige of the Commune Women's Union in the community, spreading the spirit of solidarity, sharing, promoting practical and effective social security work.
