Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc - member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee - was elected by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council as Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee for the 2021 - 2026 term.
On the afternoon of February 20, at the 21st session of the 10th term Ho Chi Minh City People's Council (special session), with the majority of votes in favor, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council elected Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc - member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee - to hold the position of Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee for the 2021 - 2026 term.
Thus, just one day after receiving the decision of the Politburo to transfer, appoint and assign him to the position of Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee and the decision of the Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee to appoint him to participate in the Executive Committee, Standing Committee and hold the position of Secretary of the Party Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee for the 2020 - 2025 term, Mr. Duoc was elected to hold the position of Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee for the 2021 - 2026 term.
Mr. Duoc was elected Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee to replace Mr. Mai, who was previously dismissed from the position of Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee by the City People's Council because he had just been elected Chairman of the National Assembly's Economic and Financial Committee.
With the election of Mr. Duoc, the 2021 - 2026 term has 3 people holding the position of Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, including Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phong, Mr. Phan Van Mai and Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc.
