Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tung holds the position of Principal of CMC University.

(Dan Tri) - On July 23, CMC University held a ceremony to announce the decision to appoint Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thanh Tung as Rector for the 2025-2027 term.

Previously, CMC Technology Group also announced the decision to appoint Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tung as Executive Vice President of the group, demonstrating confidence in its management capacity and strategic vision in developing higher education.

The ceremony was attended by Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Doan - former Vice President, President of Vietnam Association for Promoting Education, Honorary President of CMC University Council; Mr. Nguyen Trung Chinh - Chairman of the Board of Directors, Executive Chairman of CMC Group, Chairman of CMC University Council; along with delegates from central agencies, representatives of educational institutions, partner enterprises and all staff and lecturers of the school.

On behalf of the Group and the CMC University Council, Mr. Nguyen Trung Chinh presented the appointment decision and congratulated the new principal. He emphasized: “The appointment of Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thanh Tung to the position of Principal of CMC University and Vice President of the Group is a strategic step, marking a new development stage of CMC University - a young university with great aspirations, gradually positioning itself as a leading training and research center in the fields of technology and innovation”.

Speaking at the ceremony, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Thanh Tung said: “This is a great honor and responsibility for the trust of the group's leaders and the university council. In the coming period, I commit to working with the university to develop CMC University in a multidisciplinary and modern direction, with the goal of reaching a scale of over 15,000 students by 2033, building branches in Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang and bringing training programs to international standards.”

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tung also pointed out 6 key strategic orientations including: perfecting the organizational structure, developing a team of highly qualified lecturers; promoting enrollment and developing training programs associated with international standards and AI technology; enhancing scientific research, innovation and international publication; ensuring comprehensive education quality, aiming at domestic and international accreditation; expanding domestic and international cooperation, strengthening business connections; investing in modern facilities, developing branches, and increasing lecturers' income.

Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Thanh Tung also emphasized the school's role in the innovation ecosystem of CMC Group, affirming that it will continue to bring technology, especially artificial intelligence, into all school activities from administration, training to communication.

At the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Doan sent her congratulations and expressed her belief in the new Principal: “The new Principal was appointed at a meaningful time. I believe that, with his capacity and enthusiasm, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Tung will work with the school to bring CMC University to remarkable development, becoming a spearhead in training human resources to serve national digital transformation.”

Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Thanh Tung was born in 1976 in Hanoi, is a former student of Hanoi National University, received a PhD in Information Technology from Shenzhen Advanced Institute of Technology in 2014, and was recognized by the State Council of Professors as meeting the standards for the title of associate professor in 2019.

Before being appointed as Vice Rector at CMC University, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Thanh Tung held the position of Head of the Faculty of Information Technology - Thuy Loi University and was a lecturer and researcher at universities and research institutes in the US, Japan, and China.

Joining CMC University in 2022 as Vice President, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Thanh Tung plays an important role in building strategies, training programs and developing the school's teaching staff.
