Lasting until April 13, this year’s exam has 95 delegations from academies and universities across the country. Of these, 699 candidates with 809 registrations took the two independent subjects of Algebra and Analysis.

Each university or college participates in one of two groups, A and B. Prizes are awarded for each subject. The number of official prizes does not exceed 50% of the total number of students participating in each subject. In each group, the ratio of First, Second, and Third prizes is 1:2:3, respectively.

The National Mathematical Olympiad was initiated by the Vietnam Mathematical Society in 1993. Prof. Dr. Vu Hoang Linh, President of the Vietnam Mathematical Society, said this year's exam set a record in the number of candidates and registrations in its history of more than 30 years.

According to the President of the Vietnam Mathematical Association, the exam has the participation of students studying in training programs in very different fields such as science, technology, engineering, economics, military ... with the common point being the passion for Mathematics.

Mathematics is the foundation of many important fields such as artificial intelligence, automation and robotics, microchips... Prof. Dr. Linh hopes that in addition to studying Mathematics, candidates will study well specialized subjects with applied Mathematics to effectively and creatively apply knowledge in their future work.

During the exam, candidates also have the opportunity to participate in sports and cultural activities, and attend a series of online lectures to train excellent math students from famous professors and lecturers.

Previously, on March 16-17, the exam for specialized high school students took place in the form of online supervision, with more than 400 students from 46 schools nationwide participating. Each candidate took the exam in two sessions, with topics on arithmetic, geometry, algebra, analysis and combinatorics.
