* Russia: Ukraine lost 90,000 people in counter-offensive campaign: On October 5, at the plenary session of the 20th Valdai International Discussion Club Forum held in Sochi (Russia), President Vladimir Putin said that since the start of the counter-offensive campaign in early June, the Ukrainian armed forces (VSU) have lost up to 90,000 people. According to him, these losses are "irrecoverable".

In addition, the Russian leader said that the VSU had lost 557 tanks and nearly 1,900 armored vehicles of various types. He stressed that Russia was close to achieving the goals of the Special Military Operation and that all the set goals “will be realized.”

Besides, President Vladimir Putin noted that the birch country did not start the conflict in Ukraine but is trying to end the current situation.

* “Hot” news about the attack on the village of Hroza: On October 5, Governor of the Kharkov region Oleh Synehubov said that the Russian army attacked the village of Groza, Eastern Ukraine.

According to the report, Russian soldiers attacked a cafe and a shop at around 1:15 p.m. local time in the village of Groza, Kupyansk district, Kharkov. At the time of the attack, many civilians were present at both locations. It is not yet clear whether Russian forces shelled or fired missiles at the village of Hroza.

The search for survivors has now been completed. The Ukrainian state emergency agency stated: “As of 19:20 on October 5 (23:20 on the same day Vietnam time), the rescue work in the village of Groza, Kupyansk district has been completed. A total of 51 people died, including a child born in 2017, and 6 people were injured.”

Shortly afterwards, United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres “strongly condemned” the Russian attack. “Attacks against civilians and civilian infrastructure are prohibited under international humanitarian law and must stop immediately,” UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric said.

On social network X, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk expressed “shock and sadness” about the attack: “Our human rights monitors will be on the scene to gather information.”

EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell said the attack showed Russia's actions had "gone to another level".

On the same day, the United States criticized the "horrific" attack, saying it underscored the need to continue supporting Ukraine. "It is horrifying for the Ukrainian people. That is why we are doing everything we can to help Kiev," said US presidential spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre.
