Ninh Binh ranked 16th in the Local Innovation Index

According to the ranking results of the Local Innovation Index 2023 just announced by the Ministry of Science and Technology on the afternoon of March 12, Ninh Binh is among the top 20 provinces and cities nationwide.

This is the first time the Ministry of Science and Technology has announced the Provincial Innovation Index (PII) in 2023. Accordingly, Hanoi is the locality with the highest score, reaching 62.86 points, ranked 1st, followed by Ho Chi Minh City, Hai Phong, Da Nang. At the bottom of the list is Cao Bang province with a score of 22.18 points. The provinces and cities leading the 2023 Provincial Innovation Index rankings all have outstanding scores in terms of inventions, number of enterprises, and socio -economic impacts.

According to the announced results, Ninh Binh is the 16th ranked locality in the 2023 Local Innovation Index, with a score of 43.39. Of which, many indexes have quite high scores such as: institutions reaching 46.16 points; human capital and research and development reaching 42.41 points; infrastructure reaching 64.05 points; business development level reaching 40.54 points.

The PII index is built with 52 components, divided into 7 important pillars, namely: Institutions, Human capital and Research - Development, Infrastructure, Market and business development level; Knowledge products, innovation and technology, impact. The data is collected from statistical reports, official management reports of central and local agencies; data from other index sets (Administrative reform; Provincial competitiveness; Digital transformation; Provincial governance and public administration efficiency).

According to the Ministry of Science and Technology, with a wide and comprehensive scope, the PII index will be a tool for each province/city to examine in detail the aspects of output and input, clearly identify strengths, weaknesses, potential factors and necessary conditions to promote socio-economic development based on science, technology and innovation.
