Opening of the 12th Vietnam Science Summer School

On the afternoon of August 5, the Vietnam Science Association, the International Center for Interdisciplinary Science and Education (ICISE), in collaboration with the Vietnam Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics (VIASM) and the Organizing Committee of the VSSS annually organized the 12th Vietnam Science Summer School (VSSS12), with the participation of nearly 170 excellent lecturers and students from all over the country.

The program provides a solid foundation in scientific research and equips the skills needed to become a scientist.

VSSS12 Summer School attracted the participation of 150 students carefully selected from hundreds of applications, representing many different scientific fields.

Throughout the course, students will participate in 13 in-depth lectures, two roundtable discussions, and a Science-A-Thon. These activities not only enhance their professional knowledge but also ignite their passion for research and discovery .

This year, with the theme “Embrace the Unknown”, the lectures at the Summer School are divided into two main categories: traditional and innovative.

The summer school attracts many young scientists.

The lectures at the Summer School are multidisciplinary, stimulating ideas and inspiring science. Thereby helping young people better understand the beauty and challenges of the research path, thereby giving the right direction in their career.

Not only that, the program also provides a solid foundation for scientific research and equips the necessary skills to become a scientist. With the support of the community of former lecturers and students, the Summer School continues to be a place to nurture and support young talents even after the program ends.

Many have become professors or are working at prestigious universities and organizations such as Stanford University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (USA); Cambridge University, Oxford University (UK); École Polytechnique, Sorbonne University (France)...

Many of them have worked for research institutes such as NASA Goddard Space Flight Center or large corporations such as Orano, the French national nuclear corporation, as researchers or scientific practitioners.

Over the past 11 years, the Summer School has welcomed nearly 1,900 students. Of these, nearly 400 have received scholarships and completed their doctoral programs, and over 1,100 have graduated with master's degrees in countries with advanced science.

Since 2016, the Vietnam Science Summer School has been sponsored and funded by the Vietnam Association for Science Encounters and the ICISE Center, and has been actively involved in creating conditions for the annual organization to develop, becoming a prestigious and most anticipated summer school in the field of science for the young generation. Thereby, contributing to building a network of highly qualified young researchers at home and abroad.
