Soldier's Memories Book.

A young generation born after the war has now grown up, contributing day by day and hour by hour to changing the face of the country, improving the living standards of the people, and developing a civilized and modern society. However, in that developed life, there are still hidden corners that those who have never known war do not understand.

To have the life we have today, generations of fathers and brothers had to pay with their blood, and mothers and sisters had to cry silently many times, silently seeing off their loved ones who went to war, many of whom would never return.

The war has long since ended, but it is still deeply engraved in the memories of soldiers about a life-and-death battle to protect the independence and freedom of the nation, still leaving many losses and pain for many families. For that reason, the idea of a book series "Soldier's Memories" was launched in 2012 with the desire for the entire army and people to rewrite and recount the profound memories of the two resistance wars to liberate the nation and protect the Fatherland.

Right from the first volumes of the book "Soldier's Memories", countless touching stories and profound memories of historical witnesses - officers and soldiers from many military branches and services across the battlefields of Binh Tri Thien - Hue, Quang Nam - Da Nang, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, Tay Nguyen, Nam Bo... or the campaigns " Hanoi - Dien Bien Phu in the air", the legendary Ho Chi Minh Trail, "The train without a number" at sea... were spread on every page.

It could be the memories of the people involved in the long marches against foreign invaders. Or it could be the articles of the authors after a process of researching information and collecting documents telling the stories of the soldiers who did not spare their blood and bones for the front line, the silent feats of the Heroic Vietnamese Mothers. The book series was made on the basis of absolute respect for the authentic documents from the memories of the soldiers.

The book “Soldier’s Memories” has been published for 12 years and has so far published 17 volumes. The articles in each volume are arranged in chronological order, from the memories of soldiers in the resistance wars against France and the US to memories of Vietnamese volunteer troops in Cambodia and Laos, and even memories of soldiers in building, defending and developing the country during the renovation period.

Dr. Le Doan Hop, former member of the Party Central Committee, former Minister of Information and Communications , Head of the Steering Committee of the project "Memories of Soldiers" said, "all the things that were considered ordinary in the past can be great and priceless today and tomorrow".

Launching a movement for the whole country to write and retell stories, memories, feats, miracles and painful losses in the resistance wars against colonial imperialism, according to Dr. Le Doan Hop, "thanks to that we will have a priceless archive of documents, an epic poem about Vietnamese revolutionary heroism in the patriotic war, aseducational materials for traditions, films, poetry, music and paintings for the future".

The book "Memories of Soldiers" has great significance in inspiring today's generation to continue living and working worthy of the previous generation, continuing the halo of heroism to continue writing the golden history of the nation.

Not only enriching the historical archives about the tradition of steadfast and indomitable struggle of our army and people in defending the Fatherland and fulfilling international duties, the book series "Memories of Soldiers" is also a tribute from those living today to the heroes, martyrs, wounded and sick soldiers who sacrificed their blood and bones for the Fatherland.
