Training is not close to needs
Director of Danang University Nguyen Ngoc Vu informed that Danang University values training quality and is always connected with market needs.
The school has innovated its governance and improved the effectiveness of regional university management to promote the combined strength of its member schools. However, training has not really followed the economic development strategy and the economic restructuring process of localities in the region.
The objective reason is that the industry of these localities is still small, the demand for high-quality human resources is not high, and the need for technological innovation is not urgent.
At the workshop, Professor Bui Van Ga, former Deputy Minister of Education and Training, pointed out the current situation that the development of training professions of universities depends too much on the source of enrollment, and is not proactive in training professions that schools see society will need.
For example, the high-speed railway industry needs engineers for locomotives, cars, and rails, but the construction industry in general and the bridge and road industry in particular have had a hard time recruiting students in recent years. When there is a shortage of quotas, it is difficult to maintain the training program. On the other hand, it is very difficult to forecast the training program in the current context. A "hot" profession now may not exist in 5-7 years.
“Therefore, the regional linkage strategy must promote all potentials and strengths of the Region, serving the development of the marine economy, industry, agriculture and services; There must be a policy mechanism to develop the region's priority spearhead industries, and a venture investment policy to develop new industries and services…”, Professor Bui Van Ga proposed.
The Central region needs a large training and scientific research facility.
Professor Le Quan, Director of Hanoi National University, said that human resource development in the Central Key Economic Region needs to aim at improving quality and meeting modern development requirements; it should be carried out at the regional level rather than the provincial level.
“It is necessary to specialize in undergraduate and postgraduate education for regional universities, because high-quality human resources can easily move between localities to participate in economic activities. Incentive policies should also aim to attract outstanding scientists and international technology experts to work long-term in localities in the region, focusing on investing in synchronously upgrading the quality of the living environment and increasing income” – Professor Le Quan suggested.
Director of the Department of Higher Education (Ministry of Education and Training) Nguyen Thu Thuy said that higher education institutions need to proactively have plans to enhance the capacity of their teaching staff, invest in facilities to meet the conditions to ensure educational quality, proactively plan training strategies and scales in accordance with the development orientation of the Region and the whole country.
According to Professor Ga, the Central region is in dire need of a large training and scientific research facility like the National University. The economy can only develop vigorously in areas with the advantage of high-quality human resources and abundant labor.
