On the afternoon of June 19, at the regular press conference of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs , answering reporters' questions about the US State Department's announcement on June 18 that it would resume the visa issuance process for foreign students after a temporary suspension, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pham Thu Hang said that the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and representative agencies in the US are seeking information on this issue.
"Hopefully, the process of applying for a US student visa will continue to be smooth, meeting the legitimate needs and aspirations of students from all countries, including Vietnam," the spokesperson said.
Also at the press conference, answering reporters' questions regarding the third round of negotiations on the bilateral agreement on reciprocal trade between Vietnam and the US, Ms. Pham Thu Hang said:
Recently, the third round of negotiations on the bilateral agreement on reciprocal trade between Vietnam and the United States was held in Washington DC (USA) from June 9 to 12. During the 4 days of negotiations, the delegation made much progress and narrowed the gap in all areas of negotiation.
During the negotiations, the US appreciated Vietnam's goodwill and efforts, affirmed its importance to the relationship with Vietnam, acknowledged Vietnam's proposals and concerns, and considered them an important basis for the two sides to continue discussing and promoting reaching an agreement between the two countries.
The Vietnamese delegation affirmed its determination to build a balanced and sustainable economic and trade relationship with the US, for the benefit of the people and businesses of both countries. The Vietnamese and US delegations agreed to continue technical exchanges between the two sides and soon reach an agreement that meets the expectations and conditions of both sides.
