In Ia Hiao commune ( Gia Lai province), heavy rain on the night of September 5th caused many houses to be submerged in water. After 3 days, the water in some houses has not yet receded, making travel and daily activities difficult. The family of Ksor Luon (Bon Chu Knong village, Ia Hiao commune) with 7 people living in an old stilt house is one of the households heavily affected by the flood.

The recent rain caused water to be about 1 meter deep, damaging many items in the house. His house is located in a low-lying area with no drainage, so the water only recedes when the sun shines for many days. The house has been flooded during the rainy season for many years, making it difficult and unsafe for the family to travel.

Ms. Vo Hoang Lan, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ia Hiao Commune, Gia Lai Province, said that in the commune, there are currently 108 households in many villages living in low-lying areas, along the Ia Hiao stream, which are often deeply flooded when there is heavy rain. Not only threatening people's lives, flooding also causes environmental pollution, disrupts production, making people's lives always precarious.

For many years, during each rainy and stormy season, the locality has had to mobilize forces to support people in temporary relocation, but this is only a temporary solution. In the coming time, the Party Committee and the commune government will propose to the superiors to consider and mobilize resources to invest in resettlement areas to arrange accommodation for these households, ending the prolonged flooding situation, helping people stabilize their lives and feel secure in production.

In addition, in Gia Lai province, there are a number of bridges and culverts that are built low and are often flooded, isolating residential areas, such as the culvert in Mo Nang 2 village (Ia Pa commune, Gia Lai province) located on the main road leading to the village. In the past 10 days, this culvert was flooded twice, isolating 341 households.

Mr. Kpah Tran, Head of Mo Nang 2 village, said: "Whenever isolated, people cannot go to the commune to trade, buy and sell, transport agricultural products, or work for hire. Students sometimes cannot go to school. We hope that the spillway will be upgraded soon so that we will no longer be isolated." Mr. Ha Anh Thai, Deputy Director of the Department of Construction of Gia Lai province, informed that to handle the flooding situation of Mo Nang 2, the department will provide technical guidance for the Commune People's Committee to temporarily fix it, ensuring travel for people.

In Quang Ngai province, Dak Ak spillway (Dak Long commune) is also in the same situation of being flooded when heavy rain lasts for a long time, causing 275 households in Long Yen and Dak On villages (Dak Long commune) to be frequently isolated.

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Dieu, Chairman of Dak Long Commune People's Committee, Dak Ak spillway bridge is frequently flooded, in July 2025 alone it was flooded 10 times. Investing in and building a new bridge is necessary to ensure people's travel, stabilize their lives and promote socio -economic development.
