Not noisy, formal or short-term, the model "Friday for a green - clean - beautiful My Hao" in My Hao ward is gradually forming a civilized and environmentally friendly lifestyle.
The movement “Friday for a bright - green - clean - beautiful My Hao” after 1 month of implementation has clearly changed the appearance of My Hao ward. From the streets that were once littered with garbage, public places with bad odors and shabby landscapes, most of them have now taken on a new look. More importantly, the enthusiastic atmosphere spreading throughout the community, the change in awareness of each household and the determination to make environmental protection a part of daily life.
Before the movement was launched, the environmental sanitation situation in My Hao was still limited. In residential areas, traditional markets, sidewalks and small alleys, household waste was not thoroughly collected, many households dumped waste at the wrong time and in the wrong place. Advertisements and leaflets covered electric poles and fences, spoiling the urban beauty. A part of the population did not realize that keeping the environment clean and beautiful was protecting the health and quality of life of their own families. In that context, the movement was not just a short-term campaign but a strategic decision to change from awareness to behavior, gradually forming a civilized urban lifestyle.
Launching the movement "Friday for a bright - green - clean - beautiful America"
The difference of this movement is the direct leadership and example of the Ward Party Committee. Comrade Tran Thi Thanh Thuy, Member of the Provincial Standing Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of My Hao Ward emphasized: "This is not a new thing. Previously, many places also organized campaigns to clean up the environment, but only stopped at launching and assigning to organizations and calling on people to raise their self-awareness.
The effectiveness is not sustainable. This time, the Party Standing Committee went directly to the grassroots, holding a broom to sweep each street, inspecting each residential area. Any residential group that did things carelessly was asked to redo them immediately. The entire political system, armed forces, businesses and people all joined together to create a spreading force. We must turn the movement into real action, not formality."
The strength of the movement comes not only from the political system but also from the mobilization of the entire business community. Right from the first week of implementation, two major telecommunications enterprises in the area: VNPT and Viettel registered to join. On August 1, all 75,000 mobile subscribers in the ward simultaneously received text messages calling for their participation in protecting the green - clean - beautiful environment. This is a modern way of mobilizing, creating a widespread effect, turning the movement into a common task of the entire community.
Representatives of households in My Hao ward signed the commitment "Family protects the environment".
In just 1 month, My Hao ward organized 4 major campaigns, mobilizing over 6,700 participants from cadres, party members, organizations, armed forces to each household. More than 630 tons of waste were collected, of which 320 tons were treated with environmentally friendly microorganisms. 2,100 trees were trimmed and reinforced for safety before the storm season. Nearly 1,900 leaflets and advertisements that violated regulations were removed. Notably, almost all 14,300 households signed the "Family protects the environment" commitment, considering keeping the streets clean to their own yards as their own responsibility.
Friday afternoons have now become a community activity. Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh, from Cong Hoa residential group, shared: “On the first day of the campaign, I realized that keeping the environment clean is not just the responsibility of environmental workers but of each household. Every time I sweep and pick up trash with my neighbors, I feel happy because I am cleaning up the place where I live.” Mr. Dao Quang Quy, Secretary of the Ward Youth Union, in charge of Van Nhue residential group, said: “Friday afternoons are now like a festival. Children in the neighborhood also pick up trash, water plants, and learn to love the environment from small things. I think this movement educates the younger generation better than any words.”
The effectiveness of the movement lies not only in the impressive numbers but also in the way it arouses the responsibility of each citizen. Each household is a “green spot”, each street is a “clean belt”. When community awareness changes, building a civilized and smart urban area is no longer a distant slogan. Therefore, comrade Nguyen Manh Hung, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, directly registered to participate in “Green - Clean - Beautiful Friday” with My Hao ward and directed the development of a plan to replicate the model throughout the province.
Comrade Tran Thi Thanh Thuy, Member of the Provincial Standing Committee, Party Secretary, Chairman of the People's Council of My Hao Ward said: "We hope this model will spread to all communes and wards in the province. When cadres set an example, businesses accompany, and people are self-aware, environmental protection will become a way of life. That is the foundation for a civilized society and smart city in the future."
Not stopping at the numbers or superficial movements, the most important thing that the model “Friday for a bright - green - clean - beautiful My Hao” in My Hao ward brings is the change in awareness and behavior of each resident. When each household keeps their living space clean and civilized; when each street and alley has no more accumulated waste; when the sound of brooms sweeping the trash every Friday afternoon becomes a beautiful habit, that is when a society without trash is no longer a distant dream.
From My Hao today, the lesson of solidarity - companionship - shared responsibility in protecting the living environment is opening a sustainable direction for the whole province. Every small action, every specific work, every message spreading awareness can also contribute to improving the appearance of model cities in the future, where people live in harmony with nature, where green - clean - beautiful is not just a slogan but becomes a daily way of life.
