Bentley is preparing to introduce its first electric car in 2026, and it's previewing its design language with the new EXP 15 concept. It's a major shift for the brand and is billed as a "high-riding sports sedan." The EXP 15 is somewhere between a coupe, a sedan, and a crossover. The car has a "face" that looks quite similar to the top-end BMW models, but with a flat, minimalist body in the style of Volvo. The EXP 15 has a front end called "Upright Elegance", dominated by a large, closed grille that uses lights to mimic the shape of a traditional Bentley grille, while turning the unnecessary components into a "digital work of art".
The grille is flanked by vertical headlights and Bentley's new wing emblem. These are combined with an illuminated bonnet mascot as well as a front boot, accessed via a "piano-style hinged lid". Further rearwards, the relatively flat bonnet meets the sophisticated black A-pillars. The EXP 15's body surfaces combine flat surfaces with sharp lines and rounded wheel arches, combined with muscular rear haunches and a slender roofline. The wheels are aerodynamically optimized and the ground clearance is quite high. The EXP 15 is an oddity because it has three doors, including a single door on the driver's side and two on the passenger side. Even more odd is that it has two front doors even though it only has a driver's seat. The rear of the car features two active roof-mounted spoilers. These are combined with an active diffuser and taillights that slightly surround the opening with the Bentley logo and lettering in the middle. Bentley didn't go into too many specifics, but confirmed that the concept is longer than 5,000mm. This suggests it could be smaller than the Flying Spur, which is 5,316mm long. While the production EXP 15 will be a far cry from the original concept, Bentley says it “offers a design hint” at future models. The company suggests that customers can expect more modern, sculpted bodywork, as well as efforts to reduce “visual weight.”
The weirdness continues inside, with the EXP 15 featuring a three-seat interior with “innovative in-cabin storage for pets and/or carry-on luggage.” As part of this effort, Bentley developed a dog carrier that can be strapped in where the front passenger seat would normally be. The driver can also opt to carry two suitcases alongside. The weirdness doesn’t stop there, as the passenger seat can be moved into three different positions. There’s the Standard rear position, a reclining Relax mode, and a Co-Pilot mode that allows the seat to move forward with the driver. The seat can also swivel outwards 45 degrees for easier entry and exit. Bentley notes that there's plenty of legroom in the rear seating positions, as there's no front passenger seat. The company also mentions the Concertina floor storage system, which features footrests that fold into the floor when not in use. The car features Bentley's signature 'Wing Gesture' dashboard, but it can also function as a full-width digital display. It features a slim digital instrument cluster and an infotainment system described as "Mechanical Marvel". The latter is advertised as "a watch-like device with multiple moving, glowing fingers... that can indicate the vehicle's direction of travel, charge status and more".
Interestingly, the display can be turned off to reveal a visible veneer surface underneath the glass. That's not the only cool touch, as the EXP 15 has a stylish steering wheel and some physical buttons, as Page shared, "We think people are going to get tired of the all-digital experience and crave physical mechanical elements as well." Bentley doesn't say much about the rear seats, but they're separated by a center console with integrated screens and stylish lighting. The console also houses a refrigerator and dedicated controls. Being a crossover, the EXP 15 has a spacious trunk that can double as a high-end picnic area. Part of the rear doors fold down to reveal two small seats, similar to the Rolls-Royce Viewing Suite. The taillights and the refrigerator can also slide back into the trunk from the center console. While the production model is due next year, Bentley is keeping mum about its powertrain.
