In 2024, Vietnam tourism will attract 17.5 million international visitors.

On the morning of December 18, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) held a conference to review the work in 2024 and deploy key tasks for the CST sector in 2025. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended and directed the conference. The conference was held in both in-person and online formats.

Attending the conference at Tra Vinh bridge point were Mr. Kim Ngoc Thai, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Le Van Han, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and leaders of provincial departments, branches and sectors.

In 2024, Vietnam tourism achieved very impressive numbers with 17.5 million international visitors, an increase of 38.9% compared to 2023; domestic visitors are estimated at 110 million, an increase of 1.6% over the same period in 2023. Total revenue from tourists is estimated at about 840,000 billion VND, an increase of 23.8% compared to 2023.

Vietnamese sports participation in international sports events left many positive impressions, winning a total of 1,175 international medals, including 447 gold medals, 344 silver medals, and 384 bronze medals.

Cultural and foreign affairs work has many bright spots. In 2024, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism organized the signing of 11 international cooperation documents during visits by senior leaders of the Party and State, developed 14 plans to implement foreign affairs activities, 9 projects; many activities and events for international exchange and cooperation in culture, sports and tourism were successfully organized, promoting the image and contributing to strengthening the country's international position...

Investment resources for the industry continue to be strengthened, socialization has initially shown good results, especially in the activities of relic restoration, festival organization, and sports activities. The process of international integration brings opportunities and favorable conditions for the development of the industry's fields of operation.

At the conference, delegates discussed issues such as: developing cultural industry, developing tourism associated with preserving and promoting cultural heritages; building a cultural environment for workers in industrial zones; culture in the new era, the era of the Vietnamese nation's rise: opportunities - challenges - some things that need to be done immediately...

In his concluding remarks at the conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh acknowledged and commended the achievements of the culture, sports and tourism sector over the past year.

In the coming time, the Prime Minister requested that the culture, sports and tourism sector must focus on perfecting institutions, creating resources and motivation for development; strengthening decentralization, ending the situation of asking for and giving, abandoning the mindset of "if you can't manage, then ban". Promote the comprehensive development of culture, sports and tourism infrastructure, focusing on connecting infrastructure and applying digital infrastructure. Train high-quality human resources for the sector; build mechanisms and policies in training human resources, retaining talented people; have sanctions to deal with those who avoid and fear responsibility.

At the same time, the Prime Minister requested the Culture, Sports and Tourism sector to continue mobilizing resources for the development of culture and tourism . Create opportunities and mechanisms for Vietnamese people to enjoy Vietnamese culture imbued with national identity; develop the sports sector to improve people's physical strength and health;   Tourism creates motivation and inspiration for the nation and international friends.
