On the morning of August 31, Mr. Lo Duong Khanh - Chairman of Tam Thai Commune People's Committee said that due to the impact of storm No. 6, the commune experienced heavy rain, with average rainfall of 100-200mm. Up to now, due to prolonged heavy rain, the water level in streams and creeks continues to rise, causing some roads and houses to be flooded and eroded.

“Currently, 7 houses in Na Tong, Lung and Can villages have been damaged by landslides. Some houses have had hundreds of cubic meters of soil and rocks collapse their walls. On the night of August 30, we had to evacuate 20 households at risk of landslides in Xop Nam village to a safe place,” said Mr. Khanh, adding that this was the third time in the past month that the commune had to evacuate people to avoid floods.
Up to now, the flood has caused 3 overflow bridges in Khoi, Xoong Con, and Xop Nam villages to be flooded, making it impossible for people and vehicles to pass. National Highway 7A passing through Na Tong village was eroded, causing traffic jams. Similarly, the roads to the border guard station, the road to the commune People's Committee headquarters, and the road to Vang Mon village were heavily eroded, causing traffic jams.

According to Mr. Lo Duong Khanh, currently, the commune government is having to assign staff to regularly monitor the weather, water levels in streams, creeks, overflow bridges, and vulnerable areas on National Highway 7A, and villages, especially areas at risk of landslides, flash floods, and flash floods. Organize the installation of signs, set up temporary checkpoints to prevent people and vehicles from passing through 3 deeply flooded bridges (villages: Khoi, Xoong Con, Xop Nam). Announce on loudspeakers and community groups so that people can grasp the situation and proactively respond. Tam Thai Commune People's Committee has also directed the villages to mobilize militia and self-defense forces, union members, youth, and members of organizations and unions to coordinate in supporting 20 households to evacuate to a safe place, and to clear the soil and sand that has flooded into the house of a household whose slope behind their house has collapsed.

Similar to Tam Thai commune, Luong Minh and Tam Quang communes... were also severely affected by heavy rains causing landslides. Mr. Nguyen Van Hoa - Chairman of the People's Committee of Luong Minh commune said that 4 inner villages of the commune including Dua, Minh Thanh, Minh Tien, and Cham Puong villages are suffering from severe landslides, and some roads are cut off. Currently, the commune is evacuating 12 households due to landslides.
