In the past 24 hours, from 8:00 a.m. on July 22 to 8:00 a.m. on July 23, the provinces of Son La, Phu Tho, Lao Cai , Thanh Hoa and Nghe An recorded heavy rain, from moderate to very heavy rain.
Some outstanding rainfall measurement points include Pu Danh (Son La) with 188.2mm; Doan Ket (Phu Tho) 177.8mm; Ta Si Lang (Lao Cai) 120mm; Xuan Loc (Thanh Hoa) 296mm and Dong Van 1 ( Nghe An ) 289mm.
Soil moisture models show that many areas in these provinces have reached near or complete saturation (over 85%), indicating that the soil's water absorption capacity has reached its limit.
It is forecasted that in the next 3-6 hours, these provinces will continue to have rain with common accumulations in Son La, Phu Tho , Lao Cai, Thanh Hoa from 20-40mm, some places over 60mm. Nghe An alone is expected to have 5-10mm of rain, some places over 30mm.
