MU wants Gyokeres and is ready to include Antony in this deal. |
According to Goal , Gyokeres is said to have told friends and family that he "wants to play for Arsenal next season". The London club are lacking a top-class striker and consider Gyokeres their top target.
However, MU suddenly came back strongly. The Old Trafford club is said to be considering sending an exchange offer for Antony along with 35 million euros to convince Sporting to let him go. Antony had an impressive half-season on loan at Real Betis and is a reasonable "exchange card".
Antony's future at MU is uncertain as he, along with Rashford, Garnacho or Sancho, are said to not be participating in the club's summer tour in the US. In addition, former MU scout Mick Brown revealed that the "Red Devils" are also considering other options, if they cannot surpass Arsenal in this deal.
If Sporting agree, Gyokeres could become United's second signing of the summer, following Matheus Cunha's £62.5m move. However, the possibility of Gyokeres agreeing to move to Old Trafford remains open, as United do not have a place in the European Cup next season.
The Swedish star had an explosive season in Portugal with 52 goals in all competitions, becoming one of the most effective strikers in Europe. It was this form that made him a sought-after target in the summer of 2025.
Arsenal, Manchester United and Juventus are all interested in Gyokeres' signature. Juventus, in particular, are said to have sent a lucrative offer worth 13 million euros per year in salary, but the 27-year-old striker rejected it. Meanwhile, Sporting remain firm.
Sporting president Frederico Varandas publicly criticised Gyokeres for "putting pressure" on the two sides over a "secret agreement" on a sale price of €60m plus €10m in add-ons. Varandas completely denied this information and insisted that Sporting had not received any official offer.
