MU recruited Lammens for 21 million euros and closed the Martinez deal.

According to The Athletic , MU paid Royal Antwerp a fee of 21 million euros plus additional terms. The agreement did not include a percentage of Lammens' future sales.

Lammens will travel to Manchester to complete the signing following a medical , with personal terms agreed on a five-year deal.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano used the familiar phrase "Here we go" to confirm the deal was completed on the evening of September 1. "After Lammens, MU's interest in Martinez officially ended," the Italian journalist added.

The "Red Devils" only needed a goalkeeper but negotiated with both Lammens and Martinez, even reaching personal agreements. However, Martinez's price was too expensive so the Old Trafford club turned to Lammens and succeeded.

The goalkeeper position was not in MU's transfer plans this summer. However, everything changed quickly after a series of mistakes by Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir in the Carabao Cup and Premier League.

Meanwhile, Lammens has impressed with his good footwork, excellent reflexes and modern style of play. Statistics show that Lammens averages 24 passes per game in the Belgian league, with nearly 7 accurate long balls.

Lammens also averages 4.5 saves per game, with a success rate of 80%. The 23-year-old goalkeeper has made 65 appearances for Antwerp. He has represented Belgium at youth level and was called up to the senior team in March, although he has not yet played.
