According to leaker Majin Bu, this headphone model is about to be launched by Apple, with a slightly smaller charging case and equipped with a touch connection button.

Based on conversations with a major accessory maker, the rumor mill says the AirPods Pro 3 charging case may be slightly smaller than the current model, but overall it will be “almost identical” to the previous version. The AirPods case maker provided them with a sample, which showed no significant changes in size.

“AirPods Pro 3 maintain a familiar design, ensuring compatibility with existing accessories as well as meeting expectations for compactness and portability,” the leaker said. One change they confirmed is that the traditional connection button will be removed, in order to reduce mechanical parts that are prone to wear and tear and simplify the overall design.

Instead, Apple will integrate new touch operations on the front of the charging case, similar to the AirPods 4. Users can perform intuitive gestures, such as tapping to quickly pair the headphones with an iPhone or other iOS device. The touch button also has additional functions, such as music playback and volume controls.

Accessory makers no longer need to leave room for a mechanical button on the back, which makes for a more hands-free experience and aligns with Apple’s increasingly touch-oriented ecosystem. The strap design remains, allowing for compatibility with existing accessories while also allowing for new Apple bands.

Despite the more minimalist design, Techradar thinks it will make the experience worse. Whenever the AirPods fail, users can press to restart. The physical button will help the operation feel clearer.

This doesn't say much about the AirPods Pro 3 overall. Techradar expects the headphones to have better sound quality, improved active noise cancellation, a powerful new H3 chip, and some smart features built in thanks to this chip.
