Implementing a two-level local government, the new Mo Vang commune was established after merging Mo Vang commune and the old An Luong commune with an area of over 166km2 . The population of the commune is over 10,000 people, mainly Mong, Dao, Tay, and Nung ethnic groups. Once a poor and difficult land, with the right direction in economic development, Mo Vang commune has taken on a new, more prosperous appearance.

In Khe Long 3 village, where the highland winds blow fiercely, Mr. Mua A Su now feels secure in his solidly built house. The house is small but sturdy, with a corrugated iron roof and solid brick walls, no longer afraid of rain or wind. Mr. Su emotionally said: “I have lived in a temporary house for more than 30 years, and every rainy season I worry about the house collapsing. With the State's support of 60 million VND to build a new house, my family now has a stable home, can work and take care of our children with peace of mind.” In 2025 alone, Mo Vang has eliminated 35 temporary houses, nearly 90% of households in the commune now have standard housing.

Not only taking care of accommodation, Mo Vang commune government also pays special attention to livelihoods and jobs for the people. Production support models, especially the National Target Program for socio-economic development of ethnic minority and mountainous areas, are of interest.

Mr. Vang A Venh in Khe Long 2 village shared: “My family is poor, has no fields, only a small plot of land. Last year, my family received support for buffalo breeding, and agricultural extension officers came to my house to guide me on how to care for them. Now the buffalo is fat and healthy, both plowing and breeding, contributing to the family's economic development.”

Thanks to the right and appropriate policies, the commune has created new jobs for more than 825 workers, an increase of 15% compared to 5 years ago. In particular, the rate of trained workers reached 65%, of which 30% have degrees and certificates. Education and training are given attention, especially women and ethnic minority youth who have boldly learned a trade, done community tourism, and worked abroad under contracts. Poor and near-poor households and monthly social welfare beneficiaries have full access to basic social security services such as free medical examination and treatment, health insurance, and support policies for students in mountainous areas.

Mr. Tran Tuan Anh - Vice Chairman of Mo Vang Commune People's Committee affirmed: "Poverty reduction is not a race against targets but accompaniment with people in every step. We clearly define: no one is left behind. Commune officials must go to the village, to the house, to understand the situation of each household, not to let anyone be left out or forgotten".

Therefore, in addition to the State's policies, Mo Vang also launched the movement "All people help each other to sustainably reduce poverty", mobilizing the strength of the people, fellow countrymen, children far from home... to contribute to help the poor and poor households rise up together.

Looking back at Mo Vang a few years ago, it was difficult to believe that this place would set a goal of reducing the poverty rate to only 5% by 2030, 100% of people having access to basic health , education and social security services, and 72% of workers being trained. Mo Vang's approach is not to follow the beaten path. Instead of just "giving fish", the commune guides people in "how to fish" by awakening their internal strength, connecting with businesses and professional organizations, focusing on developing industries suitable to local conditions such as growing cinnamon, raising black chickens, mountain goats or doing indigenous tourism. Not only investing in infrastructure, the commune also focuses on preserving traditional culture and promoting the role of prestigious people in the community. They are not only a bridge between the people and the government but also a spiritual support to mobilize, change awareness, and give up the mentality of waiting and relying.

Now from Khe Long, Nam Pan, Na Dang to Nam Nhun, the extended concrete roads bring convenience to trade and people's lives.

Vice Chairman of the Commune People's Committee Tran Tuan Anh added: "Social security and sustainable poverty reduction are not only development tasks but also political responsibilities and profound humanitarian obligations. We will continue to act decisively, synchronously and creatively so that no one is left behind."
