On the afternoon of June 23, Mr. Tran Luu Quang, Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Central Highlands Coordination Council, chaired the 3rd Central Highlands Coordination Council meeting with the participation of leaders of central ministries and branches and leaders of 5 provinces: Lam Dong, Gia Lai, Kon Tum, Dak Nong and Dak Lak.

Mang Den, Bien Ho - new factors of the Central Highlands

At the conference, Mr. Tran Duy Dong, Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment , announced the Prime Minister's decision approving the planning of the Central Highlands region for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050.

Accordingly, by 2050, the Central Highlands will be a region of sustainable development, with a green, circular economy, some provinces in the region will be in the fairly developed group of the country; forming large production areas of industrial crops, fruit trees, vegetables and flowers; a renewable energy center of the country; forming a number of high-quality tourist areas, attractive destinations for tourists; the forest ecosystem will be preserved and developed.

Modern regional infrastructure is an important foundation to promote the Central Highlands to connect with major economic centers of the country, integrate into the international economy; cultural identity is promoted and becomes the foundation for development.

In terms of economy, by 2030, the region's average GRDP per capita will reach 130 million VND/person; the economic structure will include agriculture - forestry - fishery at 29%, industry - construction at 27%; services at 38%, etc.

Da Lat is the center of the southern Central Highlands.

The whole region has sub-regions including: The Northern Central Highlands sub-region includes Gia Lai and Kon Tum provinces with a focus on developing industrial crops, food crops, and international exchange hubs. Promote tourism development, form large-scale national tourist areas such as Mang Den eco-tourism area; Bien Ho - Chu Dang Ya tourist area and tourist areas associated with national parks and nature reserves. Improve the quality of Pleiku urban clusters (the center of the sub-region) and Kon Tum city.

The Central Highlands sub-region, including the entire Dak Lak province, is a center for research and application of international agricultural science and technology; a center for connecting exchange, trade, culture, and biodiversity conservation of the region and the Vietnam-Laos-Cambodia Development Triangle. The central development of the sub-region is Buon Ma Thuot city.

The Southern Central Highlands sub-region (including Lam Dong and Dak Nong provinces) is a national and international center for high-quality services and resorts; a high-tech agricultural region, mining industry, multidisciplinary training center, and regional and regional scientific research center; a bauxite mining, processing, and mineral reserve area. Focus on developing high-quality services, eco-tourism, resorts, and medical treatment associated with climate, natural landscapes, and indigenous culture; bauxite, alumina, and aluminum mining and processing industry. Develop Da Lat city as a sub-regional center.
