In the 2025 winter-spring crop, Luc Yen district planted 3,607.3 ha/3,400 ha, reaching 106.09% of the plan (the rice area after the lake water receded was 207.3 ha), with a structure of 60% hybrid rice varieties including: Thai Xuyen 111, Nhi Uu 838, Thuy Huong 308, Nghi Huong 305, Nhi Uu 89, Nhi Uu 69, Viet Lai 20, HKT99... and 40% pure rice varieties such as: BC 15, VNR 20, Bac Thom No. 7, Dai Thom 8, Thien Uu 8, TBR 225, HT1, DD2, HD11 and various types of glutinous rice.
To ensure a successful spring crop, right from the beginning of the crop, the People's Committee of Luc Yen district has directed communes and towns to increase information about the structure and planting schedule to farmers. Directed relevant units to proactively repair and dredge irrigation works and canals to ensure rice production requirements; have plans to store water in reservoirs, regulate irrigation water in rotation in places with proactive irrigation water sources and prevent drought at the end of the crop.
Furthermore, in order to ensure favorable development of spring rice, Luc Yen district has focused on promoting propaganda and providing guidance on scientific and technical measures for rice plants at each stage; recommending that people regularly check and visit fields to estimate, forecast, and detect early harmful pests and diseases and take timely preventive measures for the planted spring rice area.
According to the leader of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Luc Yen district, compared to previous years, the winter-spring crop in 2025 has many advantages, with less drought and pests. In particular, the Party Committee and local authorities from the district to the grassroots level have always closely directed; farmers have been diligent and made efforts in investing and taking care of the crops according to technical procedures, proactively responding to natural disasters, so the entire spring rice crop in Luc Yen district has grown and developed well, without major pests and diseases occurring.
Up to this point, the whole Luc Yen district has harvested more than 1,000 hectares of spring rice, with an estimated yield of 57.7 quintals/ha; the estimated output is 20,814 tons/19,618 tons, reaching 106.09% of the plan. Some communes such as: Muong Lai, Lieu Do, Minh Xuan, Lam Thuong, Mai Son, Vinh Lac, Tan Linh, ... people have finished harvesting. It is expected that by June 15, the whole district will complete harvesting the entire spring rice area.
After harvesting spring rice, the District People's Committee will direct people to focus on producing early-season rice on over 1,000 hectares, creating conditions for winter-season crop production in 2025 on land with two rice crops. Of which, early-season rice for winter crop accounts for 35-40% of the total winter-season crop area, planted from June 10 to June 25, focusing on planting short-term pure rice varieties: Thien Uu 8, HT1, Bac Thom No. 7 resistant to leaf rust; main-season rice accounts for 60-65% of the total winter-season crop area, planted from June 25 to finish before July 15, focusing on planting hybrid rice varieties: Nhi Uu 838, Viet Lai 20, Thuy Huong 308, Thai Xuyen 111 and pure rice varieties: Thien Uu 8, Bac Thom No. 7 resistant to leaf rust, BC15, VNR20, TBR225, Khang Dan 18, and various types of glutinous rice.
