On August 5, 1965, the 299th Engineer-Architectural Regiment (299th Engineer Brigade) held a military-political conference, including presiding officers from the Regiment to its subordinate units. This was the first military-political conference of the Regiment. Since then, the Regiment has been named "Tan Trao Regiment", and August 5 has become the glorious traditional day of the Regiment.

Over the past 60 years, inheriting and promoting the fine traditional values of the nation and the traditional nature of the Vietnam People's Army, generations of officers and soldiers of the 299th Engineer Brigade have stood side by side with the army and people of the whole country, overcoming countless difficulties and hardships, bravely fighting, building and growing strong, worthy of the tradition of the unit being twice awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces.
