Live schedule of the Women's Volleyball World Championship on August 30 - Graphics: AN BINH
On the first day of the round of 16, fans witnessed exciting matches. Serbia, the defending champions of the Women's Volleyball World Championship, was officially dethroned after a 5-set defeat to the Netherlands.
The hosts Thailand were then defeated by their Asian "big brothers" Japan with a score of 3-0. These results helped determine the first two names to qualify for the quarter-finals: the Netherlands and Japan.
On August 30, the tournament continues with two more round of 16 matches. At 5 p.m., the Italian women's volleyball team will face Germany.
After Serbia was eliminated, Italy is highly rated to become this year's champion. They are on a streak of 32 consecutive matches without knowing defeat. During that time, they have won 3 major titles including 2 Volleyball Nations League (VNL) championships in 2024, 2025 and the Paris Olympic gold medal.
The Italian team is only missing the World Cup to complete a collection of noble titles in just over a year. With the destructive form of prestigious stars such as Paolo Egonu, Alessia Orro, Myriam Sylla... the German team will find it difficult to stop Italy.
In the next match at 8:30 p.m., world No. 3 Poland will play against 13th-ranked Belgium. This is another match between two teams with different levels. Poland is expected to easily qualify.
Currently, no Vietnamese television station owns the copyright for the 2025 Women's Volleyball World Championship. Domestic fans can visit https://tv.volleyballworld.com/ to watch the matches.
