The 2026 Asian Women's Football Championship (Asian Cup 2026) qualifiers officially kicked off on June 23 with the participation of 32 teams, divided into 8 groups competing in a round-robin format.
The top teams in each group will qualify for the finals, scheduled to be held in Australia in March 2026.
In Group E, the Vietnamese women's team will compete at home in Viet Tri ( Phu Tho ), meeting Maldives (June 29), UAE (July 2) and Guam (July 5).
The goal of coach Mai Duc Chung and his team is to win first place in the group to participate in the biggest tournament in the continent.
All matches in Group E of the 2026 Asian Women's Football Qualifiers will be broadcast live and replayed on FPT Play, the copyright holder of the matches of the Vietnamese women's team at the Asian tournament. Since the beginning of May, the Vietnamese women's team has gathered in Hanoi and quickly stabilized its strength. The team has completed a 10-day training trip in Osaka (Japan), where the players performed impressively with 2 wins and 1 draw against quality opponents.
"The whole team maintained stable performance, good tactical awareness, followed the training plan and had a very high competitive spirit," said coach Mai Duc Chung.
The squad participating in the 2026 Asian Cup qualifiers still includes the pillars who made the miracle of participating in the 2023 World Cup such as Huynh Nhu, Tran Thi Kim Thanh, Nguyen Thi Bich Thuy, Chuong Thi Kieu, Hoang Thi Loan...
At the same time, coach Mai Duc Chung also gave opportunities to players with good skills such as Ngoc Minh Chuyen, Nguyen Thi Kim Yen or Ho Thi Thanh Thao... In particular, the appearance of overseas Vietnamese player Nguyen Hoang Nam Mi promises to bring a new breeze to the team's playing style.
