Roll-up screen laptop on shelves, priced at $3,299

After introducing the idea in 2022, Lenovo realized the first rollable screen laptop at CES 2025 earlier this year.

Now, the ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable laptop model is finally officially available to consumers by Lenovo. This is considered a breakthrough version in the ThinkBook line that Lenovo has developed for many years.

With its innovative design, the ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable allows users to expand their display space with just a button or a simple hand gesture. "Starting" with a 14-inch screen, users just need to press a dedicated key on the keyboard to expand the screen up to 16.7 inches. In particular, users can stand far away from the computer and use hand gestures to adjust the screen size thanks to advanced edge camera technology.

Lenovo's efforts to bring roll-screen laptops to users

Lenovo worked with Intel on the development of the first rollable laptop, which took two years of research and development. The design required a smaller printed circuit board and rearranged internal components to make room for a pair of small motors that allow the OLED display to roll up and down. "We designed the thermal and power management technology to work efficiently inside the Intel Core Ultra system-on-chip," said Intel's Zheng Jiong.

The price of the world's first roll-up screen laptop is $3,299.

The ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable is powered by an Intel Core Ultra 7 CPU, integrated graphics, and a neural processing unit capable of 48 trillion operations per second. The system comes with 32GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD. The display has a brightness of 400 nits and a resolution of 2,000 x 1,600 pixels in a 5:4 ratio or 2,000 x 2,350 pixels in an 8:9 ratio when fully extended.

Additionally, the device is equipped with Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, USB-C Thunderbolt, 5 MP RGB camera, IR camera with privacy shutter, dual microphones, Harmon Kardon speakers and 66 Wh battery with fast charging support. ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable meets MIL-STD-810H durability standards and is currently priced at $3,299.
