Towards the 70th anniversary of the Vietnam Circus Federation (January 16, 1956 - January 16, 2026), on August 12, in Hanoi , the Vietnam Circus Federation launched the first Vietnam Circus Art Photography Contest - 2025 to honor the beauty of circus art through a creative photographic perspective, while spreading the love of performing arts to the public.

Through the photographer's lens, the contest contributes to capturing impressive moments, spreading cultural values and circus arts to domestic and international audiences.

According to People's Artist Tong Toan Thang, Director of the Vietnam Circus Federation, the first Vietnam Open Circus Art Photography Contest - 2025 is a combination of skills, creativity and silent dedication.

“Based on my own practice and dedication to my colleagues, I see circus as a special art form. I want to record the circus artists’ career on stage, their images and their dedication throughout their career. In my opinion, this is the legacy that artists leave for life and the public,” People’s Artist Tong Toan Thang shared.

"Hopefully, through the lens of photography, the artist will be vividly portrayed, from the dangerous movements at high altitudes, to the bright smiles after completing the performance, or the eyes of absolute concentration during practice. Each photo is a story, a slice of circus life," the Director of the Vietnam Circus Federation hopes.

According to the Organizing Committee, the excellent works of the competition will be selected by the Vietnam Circus Federation to be printed into photo books, added to the unit's traditional database, as well as to promote circus arts and Vietnamese culture at events at home and abroad.

Photographer Thanh Ha, a member of the jury, shared that circus is a unique art form, combining skillful performance techniques with high aesthetics, requiring artists not only to have talent but also to undergo a process of persistent training. Behind the bright stage lights are moments of sweat, hard work in practice; times of overcoming injuries, challenging one's own limits...

“As a photographer, passionate about the circus stage, I wish to have a playground to attract photographers to work on circus practices and performances so that those moments can be preserved and honored, helping the public understand more deeply the silent sacrifices and passion of circus artists. This contest meets that expectation,” photographer Thanh Ha expressed.

The first Vietnam Open Circus Art Photography Contest - 2025 is open to Vietnamese citizens and foreigners, taking photos of Vietnamese circus art and artists. The Organizing Committee officially accepts entries from August 12 to September 21, at https://forms.gle/6J7aX9iYHjjM2zsd9.

The Organizing Committee creates all conditions for photography artists to attend events, performances, and circus practices to create works for the contest.

The closing and award ceremony is expected to take place on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Vietnam Circus Federation. The awards include 1 First Prize, 2 Second Prizes, 3 Third Prizes, and 4 Encouragement Prizes. In addition, there is 1 Most Favorite Prize and 1 Most Creative Prize.
