Lai Chau: Press conference to provide information on Independence Day activities in 2025

This afternoon (August 25), the Organizing Committee of Independence Day 2025 held a press conference to provide information on activities during Independence Day. Comrade Tran Manh Hung - Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Comrade Phan Van Ngoc - Chairman of the People's Committee of Than Uyen Commune co-chaired the press conference.

Attending the press conference were leaders of Muong Kim and Muong Than communes; representatives of leaders and reporters of local and central press agencies stationed in the province, along with reporters participating online via Zoom.

At the press conference, the Organizing Committee informed about the plan to organize the Independence Day 2025 which will take place over 4 days (from August 30 to September 2) in 4 communes: Than Uyen, Muong Kim, Khoen On, Muong Than. The program includes a ceremony with traditional rituals: visiting the Martyrs' Cemetery, offering incense at the Traditional House of the Ban Lut historical relic site, and the Flag Raising Ceremony. The festival is exciting with: Welcome art program and Solidarity Circle; "Non nuoc Khoen On" festival, "Huong sac Muong Than"; exchange of Thai ethnic culture preservation clubs; Culinary contest, pounding rice cake; folk games; ethnic cultural performances in typical Thai, Mong, Dao, Kho Mu spaces.

Notably, many tourism and sports activities will take place: KOMOMO Than Uyen International Running Race 2025; ethnic sports competition; The first Pickleball Open Tournament; Swallow-tailed boat racing; motorized paragliding. Visitors can also experience Nam Pat market, visit famous tourist attractions such as pine hill in Zone 7, Love Hill, Ban Lut relic site, Pa Khom Bay, Sang Nga village water wheel, Noong Quang village cloud hunting... In addition, the program also has an exhibition of books, newspapers, "Lai Chau Fragrance" art photos, a youth music night and an introduction of OCOP products and typical agricultural products.

During the discussion, reporters were interested in the coordination between communes under the new government, the highlights and differences of this year's Independence Day as well as solutions to ensure festival safety. Many opinions suggested the early establishment of a Zalo communication group, providing images, documents, and festival scripts to support information and propaganda work.

At the press conference, the representative of Than Uyen commune said that the coordination work has been closely implemented, the facilities and human resources have been fully prepared, ready to serve the people and tourists. The activities will be distributed evenly over 4 days in 4 communes, creating space for tourists to experience folk games and unique cultural features.

The communes have proactively prepared many highlight activities: Muong Than commune has the fire dancing ritual of the Red Dao ethnic group, the Dao ethnic group's bride procession; Muong Kim commune prepares for the KOMOMO Tournament, Nam Pat fair; Khoen On commune organizes an art competition between villages, boat trips to see the scenery of the Huoi Quang Hydropower Reservoir; cloud hunting in Noong Quang village; experience sightseeing and taking photos at Hua Dan terraced fields; especially on the evening of August 30, 600 flower lanterns will be released on the Huoi Quang Reservoir, promising to bring visitors unforgettable experiences.

Concluding the press conference, Mr. Tran Manh Hung - Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism sincerely thanked the attention and support of the central and local press agencies in the work of propagating and promoting the image of Lai Chau. He emphasized that the Independence Day is not only a cultural and historical event of special significance to the ethnic groups of Lai Chau but also an opportunity to introduce tourism potential and promote the image of Lai Chau land and people to domestic and international friends. For effective communication, the Organizing Committee agreed to establish a Zalo group to communicate the Independence Day 2025, creating a connection channel and timely information exchange with press agencies. At the same time, reporters will be granted a press card at the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism; individuals wishing to use flycam must register to ensure flight safety.

The Organizing Committee affirmed that it will deploy inspection teams at the festival sites to ensure the best conditions for facilities, security and safety for the people and visitors. He asked reporters to accompany the propaganda in the direction of "positive dissemination", contributing to bringing the image of Lai Chau Independence Day closer to domestic and international friends, aiming to build a festival with its own identity, organized annually, becoming a unique tourism product, making practical contributions to the socio-economic development of the province.
