At the Press Conference, Mr. Phan Van Ngoc - Chairman of Than Uyen Commune People's Committee provided information on the organization of Independence Day activities in 2025. Accordingly, Than Uyen has had a tradition of celebrating Independence Day for many years. In 2012, implementing the province's policy, Than Uyen District People's Committee organized the first Mong Ethnic Culture and Sports Festival on September 1-2, 2012, including many diverse activities... attracting a large number of people to watch, exchange and have fun. Since then, Independence Day associated with Than Uyen District Culture, Sports and Tourism Festival has been maintained to this day and has become a traditional cultural value with "Brand" not only for Than Uyen but also for Lai Chau province and the Northwest region.
Since 2024, Independence Day in Than Uyen has been celebrated on a provincial scale.
In 2025, implementing the apparatus streamlining revolution, Than Uyen district will be arranged into 4 communes of the province including: Than Uyen, Muong Kim, Khoen On, Muong Than. Accordingly, the activities of Independence Day 2025 will be assigned by the Provincial People's Committee to be held in Than Uyen commune.
Activities during the 2025 Independence Day will take place from August 30 to September 2, 2025 (4 days) with many activities of the ceremony and festival. The ceremony includes the following activities: Ceremony to visit the Martyrs' Cemetery; Incense offering ceremony at the Traditional House of Ban Luot historical relic site; Flag Raising Ceremony.
The festival includes cultural activities (Art program to celebrate Independence Day and Solidarity Round; "Non nuoc Khoen On" festival; "Huong sac Muong Than" festival; Exchange program of Thai ethnic cultural preservation clubs; Traditional culinary contest of ethnic groups, rice cake pounding competition of Than Uyen, Muong Than, Muong Kim, Khoen On communes; Experiencing folk games; Cultural activities of ethnic groups in cultural spaces). Sports activities (organizing the KOMOMO Than Uyen 2025 international running race; ethnic sports competitions; The first Than Uyen commune open pickleball tournament in 2025; Swallow-tailed boat racing; Paragliding demonstration program).
The festival also includes tourism activities (Displaying, introducing and promoting OCOP products and some typical agricultural products of localities in Lai Chau province and 4 communes of Lao Cai and Son La provinces. Nam Pat market activities and activities at the commune's tourist attractions: Pine Hill Zone 7; Love Hill Zone 9 tourist attraction, Than Uyen commune; Ban Lut historical relic site, Tham Phe fishing village, Pa Khom Bay, Muong Kim commune; Ban Chit pine hill, Sang Nga village water wheel, Na Phat, Muong Than commune).

At the press conference, representatives of leaders and reporters from central and local press agencies expressed their opinions on the coordination of communes; ensuring facilities, security and order; highlights and attracting tourists to enjoy the Independence Day 2025; providing information to press agencies, etc.

Concluding the press conference, Mr. Tran Manh Hung - Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism emphasized that the Independence Day in Than Uyen not only attracts people of all ethnic groups in Lai Chau province but is also a destination for many people of all ethnic groups in the Northwest region, domestic and foreign tourists. Therefore, Lai Chau province aims to build the Independence Day into a separate tourism product to attract tourists. The province will try to organize in the best way, ensuring safety for people and tourists to celebrate the Independence Day in 2025 impressively and happily. Currently, the preparation work is being completed, it is requested that news agencies and newspapers continue to accompany the province to propagate and spread positive information and beautiful images of the Independence Day in 2025... to the majority of people and tourists.
