* Continued update
From 5:30 a.m. on June 26, the first candidates were present at the exam site at Nguyen Tri Phuong Secondary School (District 10, Ho Chi Minh City).
Candidates will take the literature test in 120 minutes. The test papers will be distributed to candidates at 7:30 a.m. and will start at 7:35 a.m.
Nearly 1.17 million candidates nationwide officially entered the first exam.
According to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, immediately after receiving the exam questions from the exam supervisor, candidates need to promptly check the entire content of the exam questions.
If any abnormalities are detected (such as missing pages, torn, blurred, smudged test papers, etc.), candidates must immediately report to the invigilator within 5 minutes from the time the test papers are distributed. If more than 5 minutes have passed since the test, candidates are fully responsible for the test papers they have received. At each testing location, there are original test papers for comparison in case of verification.
Professor Huynh Van Chuong, Director of the Department of Quality Management, Ministry of Education and Training, said that this year, the exam questions will closely follow the program but will be differentiated to help universities recruit students. Particularly for the literature exam, the language materials will be expanded beyond the textbooks, so students need to focus on reviewing knowledge and skills according to output standards instead of just focusing on some language materials, or memorizing, or studying according to sample texts.
The exam follows the curriculum but has differentiation.
"Candidates need to pay special attention, the exam is confidential, the use of technological devices, items not allowed in the exam room, to cheat on the exam is a violation of the regulations, and can even be prosecuted. Therefore, candidates need to pay attention not to bring prohibited items into the exam room to avoid possible risks" - Mr. Huynh Van Chuong emphasized.
The 2025 high school graduation exam is the first exam to apply new regulations according to the 2018 GeneralEducation Program.
The list of prohibited items to bring into the examination room includes mobile phones, recording, video recording and communication devices; documents related to the examination content; carbon paper, correction pens; alcoholic beverages; weapons and flammable and explosive substances...
The literature exam will expand the material beyond the textbook.
A new point to note is that candidates are not allowed to bring into the examination room the Geography Atlas, the periodic table or the solubility table if they belong to the group of candidates studying under the new program. This is a big difference compared to previous years, when students could still use the Geography Atlas as a valid supporting document. Meanwhile, the group of candidates studying under the old program can still bring and use the Geography Atlas in the examination room.
List of items allowed in the exam room include: Pens, rulers, pencils, erasers, compasses, set squares, graphing rulers, drawing tools, calculators without word processing function, and no memory cards.
High school graduation exam schedule according to the 2018 general education program
High school graduation exam schedule according to the 2006 general education program
In this year’s high school graduation exam, candidates will take all the exams in a fixed exam room, instead of changing exam rooms for each subject like previous years. The elective exams will be held simultaneously in one session. Accordingly, candidates can take different exams in the same exam room - up to 5 subjects.
This organization helps reduce the need to move between exam rooms, but at the same time requires candidates to clearly understand the time and test-taking process, avoiding confusion about exam subjects in the same session.
The time to be present in the examination room for the combined exam also has its own regulations: Candidates studying the new program (General Education Program 2018) must be present from the beginning of the exam, enter the waiting room and wait to be called to take the exam.
Candidates of the old program (General Education Program 2006) only need to be present 10 minutes before each component exam. The break time between component exams is also adjusted: Candidates of the new program have a 15-minute break; candidates of the old program have a 10-minute break.
