Commemorating the 195th anniversary of the death of 'founding father' Thoai Ngoc Hau

On July 1, the People's Committee of Chau Doc City, An Giang Province announced that the activities will take place from July 5 to 11, according to the annual traditional ritual, including the ceremony and festival to commemorate the 195th anniversary of the death of the famous god Thoai Ngoc Hau (1829 - 2024).

The ceremony includes the ancestor worship ceremony which usually takes place at 4pm on July 10th; the main worship ceremony at 4am on July 11th at Thoai Ngoc Hau mausoleum; the 195th anniversary of the death of the famous god Thoai Ngoc Hau and the Thoai Ngoc Hau street festival in Tan Lo Kieu Luong.

According to the People's Committee of Chau Doc City, the celebration aims to preserve and promote the value of cultural identity and national history, commemorate the contributions of ancestors to the locality and Chau Doc land, andeducate the tradition of remembering the source of drinking water, honoring the merits of the ancients for the younger generation to learn and follow.
