The Traffic Police Department believes that the demand for travel and freight transport during this time will increase on National Highway 6, National Highway 279, the Hanoi - Dien Bien route and vice versa.
Therefore, during the preliminary review, final rehearsal and official program (including May 3, 5, 6 and 7), heavy-duty vehicles and long-distance passenger transport vehicles will be restricted from traveling on National Highway 6, National Highway 279 and National Highway 12 from Son La, Lai Chau to Dien Bien and vice versa.
In case of serious and prolonged traffic congestion on National Highway 6 and National Highway 279 from Hanoi, Hoa Binh, Son La to Dien Bien (and vice versa), depending on the severity, the traffic police will divert traffic in the following directions:
From Hanoi: Hanoi -> Noi Bai-Lao Cai Expressway -> Lao Cai -> National Highway 4D -> Lai Chau city -> National Highway 12 -> Dien Bien Phu city.
From Son La: Son La -> Provincial Road 106 -> Muong Kim Commune (Than Uyen, Lai Chau) -> Provincial Road 106 -> National Highway 32 -> National Highway 4D -> Lai Chau City -> National Highway 12 -> Dien Bien Phu City.
Drivers need to check the safety of their vehicles before departure to avoid incidents that cause traffic jams.
Local police are also required to mobilize forces to be on duty, to ensure traffic order and safety, and to be ready to handle any incidents or accidents that may arise...
For Dien Bien Provincial Police, the Traffic Police force will be on duty regularly, warning drivers to keep a safe distance, drive slowly on steep mountain passes, in fog, and at exits and entrances to the city.
