Cu Chi Tunnels - Underground Base
Cu Chi Tunnels are located in Phu Hiep Hamlet, Phu My Hung Commune, Cu Chi District, Ho Chi Minh City. They are a living testament to the indomitable will and extraordinary creativity of our army and people in two long resistance wars. Starting from 1946-1948, the tunnels were dug manually by the people of Tan Phu Trung and Phuoc Vinh An communes to create shelters, hide weapons and wait for the opportunity to counterattack the French colonialists.
Entering the period of resistance against the US, this system continued to be expanded and strengthened by the National Liberation Front of South Vietnam. Complex structures such as command bunkers, meeting rooms, infirmaries, Hoang Cam kitchens... were meticulously, intelligently and strategically designed. The tunnels became the "steel core base" to protect the leadership forces of the Saigon - Gia Dinh area.
Today, the Cu Chi Tunnels Historical Site is not only a proud symbol of the spirit of resistance but also internationally recognized as one of the 6 most famous man-made structures in the world , and is also in the top 7 most unusual destinations in Southeast Asia. Every year, this place welcomes millions of domestic and foreign visitors to visit, experience and feel the difficult but heroic fighting life of our ancestors.
