Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh said that the consistent viewpoint of the Party and State always identifies people as the center, the subject, the goal, the resource, and the driving force of development. To concretize the above viewpoint and principles, many mechanisms and policies have been issued by the National Assembly and the Government to improve people's lives, including housing policies, especially for low-income people so that they have stable and safe housing.
On April 3, 2023, the Prime Minister issued Decision 338/QD-TTg approving the Project "Investing in the construction of at least 1 million social housing apartments for low-income people and industrial park workers in the period of 2021-2030". Along with that, the Central Government, the National Assembly, and the Government have directed the drastic implementation of eliminating temporary houses, with the goal of completely eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide by August 31. On the occasion of July 27 this year, the construction of gratitude houses and houses for people with meritorious services was basically completed.
The Deputy Prime Minister shared that developing social housing is not only a driving force for socio-economic development, contributing to increased investment and consumption, but more importantly, it aims to ensure social security, progress and equity, demonstrating and affirming the superior nature of our state - a socialist state.
This social housing project is a concrete implementation of the Project "Investing in the construction of at least 1 million social housing apartments for low-income earners and industrial park workers in the 2021-2030 period" approved by the Prime Minister.
The Deputy Prime Minister requested the People's Committee of Dong Thap province to direct relevant agencies of the province to closely coordinate with the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and the project investor during the implementation process, creating the best and most favorable conditions for the project to be implemented, ensuring quality, progress and above all, absolute safety.
President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Nguyen Dinh Khang said that this is the first project to be implemented under the Housing Law 2023, demonstrating the role of trade unions in caring for and protecting workers' rights. The project not only solves housing problems but also creates a premise for cultural and social institutions in industrial parks.
The project is built on an area of 3 hectares in Trung An ward, invested by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor with trade union funding.
The project scale includes 4 blocks of 8-storey houses with 526 self-contained apartments, 2 2-storey garages, total floor area of over 39,000 m2 , total investment of 449 billion VND. The project serves accommodation for about 2,000 workers and their families, expected to be completed in 2027.
