This is the first announcement of qualified public science and technology organizations approved to participate in the CoE Project, a new model of Ho Chi Minh City, and also the first in the country.
Accordingly, the Center for Nanostructured and Molecular Materials Research (INOMAR) under Ho Chi Minh City National University is the first public science and technology organization approved by Ho Chi Minh City to participate in the project.
At the same time, received a grant of 85 billion VND from the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City to realize the goal of building an international standard research and innovation center in the field of advanced foam materials.
Mr. Lam Dinh Thang, Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Ho Chi Minh City, said that in the first phase, the Department received 10 applications from 8 organizations and carefully reviewed and evaluated them.
The Center for Research on Nanostructured and Molecular Materials is the first unit, not only in Ho Chi Minh City but also in the whole country, to be approved as eligible to participate in the Project on building a promotion mechanism to form and develop an international standard research center.
This recognition is not only a testament to INOMAR's outstanding capacity but also an affirmation of the correctness and effectiveness of the specific policies and mechanisms that Ho Chi Minh City has issued.
INOMAR will be a pioneer, a "leading bird", proving that building international standard research centers within public organizations is completely feasible and necessary.
"This contributes to implementing Resolution 57-NQ/TW in a practical and focused manner, limiting scattered investment," Mr. Lam Dinh Thang emphasized.
Speaking at the conference, Ms. Tran Thi Dieu Thuy, Vice Chairwoman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee affirmed that the formation and development of international standard research centers is not only a qualitative goal, but also a strategic task associated with promoting the research and innovation ecosystem in Ho Chi Minh City.
As well as creating key technology platforms, practical solutions applied to industry, healthcare,education ; attracting and retaining scientific and technological talents, especially young intellectuals and young scientists.
According to Ms. Tran Thi Dieu Thuy, Ho Chi Minh City is entering a new stage of development, where science, technology, innovation and digital transformation are no longer auxiliary fields but have become the central driving force of the process of rapid and sustainable development.
To maximize the role of science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation in the coming time, the Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee requested departments, branches, sectors and research units to focus on implementing a number of key orientations.
Specifically, developing a focused and key innovation ecosystem; forming and operating the "strategic triangle axis" model or the "3-house" model (Institute-School-Enterprise); promoting digital transformation in the government apparatus and public service sectors; developing high-quality human resources in science and technology.
