After an investigation, the Indonesian Football Federation (PSSI) has concluded the brawl between U22 Indonesia and U22 Thailand in the men's football final of the 32nd SEA Games on May 16.

Accordingly, PSSI affirmed that U22 Thailand initiated this melee and the young players and coaching staff of the archipelago country only reacted, so there will be no punishment for them.
PSSI also cited that the head of the U22 Indonesian delegation, Mr. Sumardji, was assaulted by the opposing team's players when he tried to stop the fight from breaking out.
Not only did they escape punishment, the U22 Indonesian players were also promised a big reward after winning the 32nd SEA Games gold medal.
“The upcoming Indonesian U22 team will be rewarded with an amount of money commensurate with their achievement of winning the SEA Games 32 gold medal.
However, I will not disclose the amount. PSSI has enough funds to reward players and coaches.
Besides, sponsors are also promising rewards, when these resources are available and how much, we will make it public", PSSI Chairman, Mr. Erick Thohir said.
In contrast to Indonesia, Thailand has imposed very heavy penalties on those involved in the brawl in the final match of the 32nd SEA Games.
Specifically, 2 players of Thailand U22 were suspended for 6 months. Meanwhile, 3 members of the coaching staff were banned from participating in national team activities for 1 year.
