Sharing green tourism development and smart urban development

During the conference, more than 200 delegates representing local authorities from China, Japan, Korea, Malaysia and Vietnam had lively discussions, sharing experiences and innovative solutions around two key topics: Green and sustainable tourism development and Smart urban development. These discussions not only provided localities with the opportunity to learn from each other but also laid the foundation for specific cooperation projects in the future, from applying advanced technologies to building sustainable development policies.

The Green Tourism session brought about in-depth discussions on wellness tourism and plastic reduction initiatives, towards the Net Zero goal. Delegates shared practical experiences; from developing eco-tourism and wellness models to policies to minimize environmental impacts, creating a balance between economic development and nature protection.

Ideas such as developing a chain of health care tourism products in localities of Hue city, sustainable tourism through developing the available natural values ​​of Nara province, or newer perspectives on tourism such as coping with the overtourism situation at Mount Fuji in Yamanashi province, solutions to take advantage of the "Cultural Museum Fever" in Shaanxi province... have opened up new directions, inspiring other localities.

The smart city session focused on digital data-based management solutions, from smart transportation, smart healthcare, to urban order management via cameras and digital planning. Delegates listened to speeches from localities such as Buyeo County with its smart welfare, transportation, agriculture and environment development model serving the interests of the people, or Zhengzhou City with its persistent and persistent development of a smart urban restructuring model over the years.

Many new solutions have been introduced, such as the Hydro ecosystem to solve the urban energy problem of Gyeonggi province, or the people-centered smart urban initiatives of Melaka state... which have brought valuable lessons in smart urban management.

One of the important highlights of this Conference is the signing ceremony of the Friendship Cooperation Agreement between Hue City and Nara Prefecture. This agreement not only strengthens the relationship between the two localities but also opens up opportunities for cooperation in the fields of culture, tourism, and technology, contributing to promoting sustainable development of both sides. This is a testament to the spirit of open and close cooperation within the framework of the Conference on “Local Government and the East Asia Region”, creating momentum for other localities to continue building long-term strategic partnerships in the future.

Opening up opportunities for cooperation and sustainable development

Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Van Phuong delivered a closing speech at the conference.

The East Asia Regional and Local Government Conference, initiated by Nara Prefecture, Japan in 2010, has demonstrated its important role in promoting peace, prosperity and sustainable development in East Asia over the past 13 conferences, as an essential multilateral forum where localities in the region share experiences, discuss solutions to common challenges, and strengthen friendly cooperative relations.

This conference, with the participation of more than 30 localities, domestic and international organizations, held for the first time in Hue, has completed its mission, which is to continue the successes of previous conferences, while opening up new opportunities for cooperation and sustainable development of the dynamic East Asia region in the integration period. The conference is in the spirit of determination towards a future of cooperation, prosperity and sustainable development for the region.

In his closing speech, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Van Phuong expressed his deep gratitude to the Government of Nara Prefecture, Japan; especially Mr. Yamashita Makoto, Governor of Nara Prefecture, for their enthusiastic support and close coordination in organizing the Conference. The support of Nara Prefecture, in its role as the Standing Secretariat, has made an important contribution to the success of the event. At the same time, he thanked international localities from China, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, as well as domestic localities, international organizations and diplomatic agencies.
