More than 500 athletes participate in the traditional boat racing tournament of Da Nang city - VTV8

DNO - On the morning of August 31, the Da Nang City Traditional Boat Racing Tournament - VTV8 opened, attracting 26 racing teams with 520 athletes from communes and wards in Da Nang City to participate.

Speaking at the event, Vice Chairwoman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi emphasized that this year's boat race takes place at a time when the whole country is celebrating the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025) and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025).

The 2025 Da Nang City Traditional Boat Race - VTV8 is an important sporting event, not only contributing to preserving and promoting the traditional cultural values ​​of the nation but also creating a vibrant and united atmosphere in the community, welcoming important events of the country and Da Nang city.

This is an opportunity to review the heroic revolutionary tradition of the country and the city, honor the great contributions of previous generations; at the same time demonstrate the innovation and strong development of Da Nang city today.

After more than 28 years of separation, July 1, 2025 marks an important turning point when Da Nang city and Quang Nam province officially return to the same house.

Da Nang City currently has a new space and new development momentum on the journey with the whole country into a new era - the era of the Vietnamese people's rise.

Today's boat race is not only a simple sport activity but also a festival for the city's people, an opportunity for us to immerse ourselves in the vibrant atmosphere, cheer on the noble sportsmanship and express our pride in our heroic, civilized and modern homeland of Da Nang.

According to the Organizing Committee, this year's tournament is the largest ever. There are 20 male racing boats with 400 athletes from 17 communes and wards: Hoa Cuong, Hoa Xuan, Hai Van, Son Tra, An Hai, Cam Le, Nam Phuoc, Thuong Duc, Thu Bon, Hoi An, Hoi An Tay, Hoi An Dong, Vu Gia, Dien Ban, Tam Xuan, Dai Loc, Xuan Phu.

6 female racing boats with 120 athletes from 7 wards and communes: An Khe, Thuong Duc, Thu Bon, Tam Xuan, Hoa Cuong, Ngu Hanh Son. Regarding the competition content, the male boat competes in 1 round of 20 teams, 5 double laps equivalent to 7.5km. The female boat competes in 1 round of 6 teams, 3 double laps equivalent to 4.5km. Each racing boat team consists of 17 athletes for all positions on the boat, the racing boat follows the traditional boat model (wooden beam, aluminum me).
