From 2021 to present, the Women's Union of Quang Ngai province has become a solid support for children in ethnic minority and mountainous areas through a series of communication activities, legaleducation and companions, sowing knowledge, changing community awareness and gradually creating a safe and happy living environment for children.
According to the Quang Ngai Provincial Women's Union, in the period of 2021-2025, the Union has established and launched 52 "Leaders of Change" Clubs, attracting 1,510 members. Not stopping at forming clubs, the Union also organized 10 training courses on operational skills for 848 commune officials, unions, teachers and students - those who directly nurture and inspire change to the young generation in the highlands.
The "Leaders of Change" Club was established by the Women's Union of Quang Ngai province, providing knowledge and life skills to prevent and respond to violence and abuse, as well as knowledge about gender and gender equality for ethnic minority children.
One of the outstanding highlights in the activities of communication, dissemination and legal education to promote gender equality and solve urgent social problems for children in ethnic minority areas is the Contest "Searching for initiatives and solutions to raise children's awareness of gender equality and solve urgent problems for children" with 90 contestants - members of the Clubs participating.
The Association also coordinated to organize 5 communication points at schools in 5 districts, bringing the message of change to more than 500 ethnic minority students, helping them better understand their rights, equality and dreams.
In addition to verbal communication, the Women's Union at all levels of Quang Ngai province also encourages children to create art to express their own voices. The provincial "Communication Product Creation Contest to Raise Awareness of Gender Equality" received 91 works (including 69 paintings and 22 video clips), vividly expressing the children's wishes for a happy, non-violent family where everyone is respected and loved.
As a result, the Organizing Committee awarded a total of 30 prizes to outstanding works, contributing to encouraging the creative spirit of children in the mountainous areas. Following the success, the contestants from Quang Ngai province were honored to attend the National Final round of the contest organized by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union in Hanoi (2023), which is a testament to the maturity and bravery of children in the mountainous areas when given the opportunity.
In addition, the Quang Ngai Women's Union also closely coordinated with units such as the Department of Education and Training, the Provincial Youth Union, the Provincial Radio and Television Station and Quang Ngai Newspaper to expand the scope of propaganda. Of which, there were 06 reportage programs, 06 columns translated into H're language, along with 07 thematic videos, 2,600 printed newspapers and 10 electronic news articles published, widely spreading the humanistic values of Project 8, aiming to propagate, eliminate gender prejudices and stereotypes, harmful cultural practices, some urgent social issues for women and children, and build a safe living environment for women and children.
