"You must get a proper education"
The family of Nguyen Van Kiet and Ngo Thi Xiu (Hamlet 7, Nam Can Commune) is poor and has no land for production. For many years, the couple has been working as construction workers, moving from place to place. Four years ago, tragedy struck when Xiu was diagnosed with many diseases: heart disease, goiter, and kidney disease. Before she could cope, while working on a construction project in Ho Chi Minh City, she had an accident and fell off a scaffolding and broke her leg, making her condition worse, and the cost of treatment consumed all her small savings.

Despite her poor health, Ms. Xiu still tries to wake up early every morning, cooks for her children, and then goes to work as a construction worker with her husband. She shares: “No matter how painful or tiring it is, I can bear it, as long as my children can go to school and not drop out.” Sharing the same sentiment, Mr. Kiet affirms: “Our parents’ lives have been hard enough, so our children must be able to study properly, so that they can have stable jobs and live happier lives. No matter how hard it is, my husband and I try to take care of our children’s education, just hoping that they will have the knowledge to change their lives.”
Taking care of and educating children well - nurturing the future of the country.
It was in such difficult circumstances that the desire to study of Nguyen Trong Tinh (grade 10) and Nguyen Hai Nam (grade 6) became even more persistent. They always strived to improve themselves, achieved many good results, and nurtured their belief in a bright future. Trong Tinh confided: “I love my parents’ hard work, so I have to study hard. I believe that only studying can help my siblings have a better future, to make my parents happy.”
Admire the student who built his own future
Each example of studiousness is a journey that touches people’s hearts. In particular, the story of “supporting oneself in search of knowledge” by Nguyen Thanh Nghia (19 years old, Khanh Binh commune) left many emotions.
Having a serious disease called polycythemia vera, lacking the love of his parents since childhood, growing up in poverty with his grandparents, Nghia had to fend for himself early on. At the age of 14, he had done many jobs, from a shop assistant to a shoe factory worker, sometimes fainting from exhaustion, but never letting adversity defeat him. On the contrary, Nghia still studied diligently, achieving the title of excellent student for many years and being a member of the excellent student team of Ly Van Lam Secondary and High School (Ly Van Lam Ward) with many awards.

“As long as I can go to school, no matter how difficult it is, I can endure it. I believe that only when I have knowledge can I take control of my life in the future,” Nghia shared simply.
As a worthy reward for that persistent aspiration, in the 2025-2026 school year, FPT Polytechnic Can Tho High School has selected and supported Nghia's next learning journey. He is currently a student of the 21st course, majoring in Business Administration, specializing in Digital Marketing - a new door has opened, bringing him closer to his dream of changing his life with knowledge.
Nghia emotionally shared: “I am grateful to my teachers, friends and kind-hearted people who have always supported me on my learning path. Without their care, I would hardly have been able to get to where I am today. Although it is difficult, I believe I have chosen the right path: Only studying can help me change my life and become a useful person.”
Every day at school is a step closer to your dream.
Nghia's journey is not only a story about a poor student overcoming difficulties, but also a profound message to young people: Be resilient in keeping your dream of studying, because knowledge is the key to changing your destiny and building a bright future.
Those small but strong stories reflect the everlasting will to learn: No matter how poor, letters are still the guiding light.
This is not only a word of encouragement, but also a reminder of the sacred mission of education: To nurture today's young generation to become intelligent, courageous citizens, capable of shouldering the fate of the nation. In 20 years, in 2045, the 100th anniversary of the founding of the country, today's students will enter the most mature age of labor and creativity. They will be the engineers, doctors, scientists, managers, businessmen, soldiers, teachers... contributing to deciding the face of the country.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the 2025-2026 school year, General Secretary To Lam affirmed : “The previous generation achieved victory with blood and bones, so today, in peace and integration, the responsibility of the younger generation is to achieve new victories with knowledge - courage - creativity. Our Party always identifies education and training as the top national policy, the key driving force that determines the future of the nation. More than ever, we must consider investment in education as investment in the future, for the sustainable and powerful development of the country; calling on the entire Party, the entire people, the entire army, all levels, sectors, localities, each family and each citizen to join hands to take care of the cause of educating people, for the future of our children, for the prosperity of the Fatherland, for the happiness of the people”.
