Students go to the library to gain more knowledge for their studies. |
With the rapid development of digital technology , reading habits are changing dramatically. Instead of poring over each page of a paper book, readers can now access many titles via mobile devices or computers. In fact, technology is opening up opportunities to "cover" knowledge faster and more widely.
Thai Nguyen Provincial Library has quickly adapted to the new trend, by investing in building a digital library system, an integrated electronic library, and technical facilities: servers, workstations connected to the internal network, to serve readers anytime, anywhere. Especially young people tend to search for information quickly online, the "digitization" of traditional document repositories helps access to knowledge no longer be limited by space and time.
Thai Nguyen digital library system is deployed with integrated library software Libol 9.0, operating according to the "parent - child" linkage model, connecting the Provincial Library with the commune and ward level libraries. Each unit is provided with its own account, accessing and exploiting resources synchronously and effectively.
The provincial library has been promoting activities to spread the passion for reading. |
The Provincial Library has digitized 100% of the geographical documents stored and managed at the Provincial Library with more than 66,000 pages of documents; digitized more than 85,800 pages of documents on the topics of President Ho Chi Minh's complete works, Ho Chi Minh's chronicle biography, Party leaders, Party historical documents; built a digital collection of 150 rare documents such as royal decrees, village covenants, sacred relics, and sacred decrees in the area.
At the same time, the Provincial Library has built and provided the ability to look up and search for documents in the form of online OPAC directories via the electronic information page, at https://thuvien.thainguyen.gov.vn.
According to Mr. Bui Huy Toan, Director of Thai Nguyen Provincial Library, the general goal of the Provincial Library is to build and develop reading habits, needs, skills and movements among all classes of people, especially among teenagers, pupils and students, and focus on people in remote areas, areas with difficult socio-economic conditions. Activities are promoted to contribute to improving people's knowledge, strengthening awareness of law compliance, forming a healthy lifestyle; meeting people's lifelong learning needs.

“We strive to have 90% of students and other learners at educational institutions have access to and use information and knowledge at public libraries and libraries of educational, cultural and scientific institutions; 30% of the population in rural areas, 25% of the population in areas with difficult socio-economic conditions have access to and use information, knowledge and related services at public libraries, community learning centers, publishing and distribution agencies; the number of people accessing and using information at libraries reaches about 250,000/year; 100% of educational institutions at all levels and grades have libraries with appropriate resources...", Mr. Bui Huy Toan emphasized.
Reading culture in the digital age is no longer a traditional preservation but an act of conscious choice, a way to master knowledge in the vast sea of information. The library is the door to that world, where the flame of passion is lit, the desire for lifelong learning is nurtured, and a sustainable foundation is built for a knowledgeable, creative, and humane society.
